Luna waters , was going to turn 24 in 3 months and she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. Unlike other people her age who'd already enrolled into prestigious colleges or had gotten jobs, she had no idea what she wanted or what her dream was. Hell, she was the only one among her friends who still lived in their parent's house. Only thing she was sure of was that it was her best friend Simon's birthday and she was already late. She looked at herself in the mirror, her blue eyes gazing back at her uncomfortably, her silver grey hair fell on her shoulders making soft waves. She applied a touch of lip gloss on her full pout and spritzed her favourite perfume on her neck and wrists and ran out the door only to come back inside to get her phone she'd forgotten.
She checked her phone quickly , 5 missed call from Simon.
“s**t!! He's going to kill me"
“Bye mom. Bye dad"
She got into her silver Ford and drove as quickly as she could. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of Simon, her best friend. They'd been friends since they were 5. She had met him for the first time at her classmates birthday party where she saw Simon getting bullied, she had no friends but she couldn't tolerate anyone bullying her or anyone else for that matter. So she fought them off him and sent them crying to their parents. Simon stuck to her like glue from that day on. Although she resisted at first but his open nature and warm heart found his way into her heart. They were inseparable since that day.
Luna reached Crusoe’s in about 20 minutes. Simon was already there with his boyfriend Peter. As soon as he saw her he smiled but pretended to be angry at her.
“Hello silver, may i offer you my watch to look at the time?”
‘Silver' that's what he calls me.
“I'm so... sorry Simon, I tried to hurry but you know how bad the traffic is “ I lied.
“ Silverrrr, it's a Sunday, what traffic" he rolled his eyes.
“ oops! You got me. I promise it won't happen next time. But I've got something to make up for it"
“ oooohh! Let her be Simon. She's here now" said Peter.
I handed Simon his gift which was a vintage gold cuff I'd found at a pretty reasonable price.
Simon hurriedly opened his gift and smiled. He gave me a big hug. And we made up.
I sat down and we ordered our food. Simon ordered his favourite pasta carbonara, Peter his salad as he was on a diet and I my favourite crispy chicken in hot and sweet sauce. Only when the food arrived did I realise how hungry I was. We gobbled our food. And talked about everything and anything. Our future. Our lives. Our past. Simon was interning as a fashion editor with Vogue while Peter was an established architect. Only I didn't have a real job.
My dad wanted me to join his company but I had little knowledge about finance nor did I have any interest in it. my mom wanted me to help her manage her store, so I did that these days. Hung out with my mom at the store. But I wasn't sure if that's what I wanted to do with my life.
“hellloooo silverrr" my thoughts were interrupted by Simon.
“Sorry. I lost track. What were you saying again?”
Simon rolled his eyes “ugh.. never mind"
I gave an apologetic smile and looked around the place when something rather someone caught my eye.
There he was , the most beautiful man I'd ever seen.
He was a bit older than me, but somehow he didn't look a day older than 25 .Dark hair, dark eyes, strong jawline , broad shoulders. He was sitting down sipping his drink but I could tell that he was tall. I was awestruck. And then he looked up. My breath caught in my throat and I gasped. He smiled. And my mind went numb.
