Chapter 15- Sky

766 Words
In those days, there were four werewolf packs that were considered to be the strongest among all the other packs. They were the ‘ Silver Moon ‘ pack, the ‘Grey Dusk’ pack, the ‘Red Dawn’ pack and the Crescents pack. Albeit equal in all manner, the Silver Moon pack was considered to be the strongest even among the four and they were like werewolf royalty. Their strength came from the fact that they were descendants of a long line of one of the oldest and the first werewolves to come into existence. Their ancient lineage and their deep connection with the origins of the werewolf gave them unparalleled power. The members of the pack were characterised by their astonishingly silver hair and their deep blue eyes. I’d seen a few of them around as the leaders of all the pack had come to attend the yearly convention of the alphas. The yearly convention was an attempt at a more civil society among the werewolves. The four packs were at peace with each other or at least they were not fighting. Our ancestors had a long history of wars between the packs and countless number of deaths and some even unaccounted for, but my father and the Alpha of my pack decided to put an end to this bloodshed, thus the annual convention happened, where all the Alphas of the four powerful packs came together to decide on things and territories and rules as such.  The Red Dawn pack were the most violent of all the four packs with their alpha being Alpha Xerxes who was infamous for his raging anger. He wasn’t very keen with the idea of peace, but since the other three packs had already decided, he was clearly outnumbered and knew better than to pick a fight. The members of the Red Dawn pack had red hair and hence, the name. Earlier they picked fights whenever and wherever they could. It was no surprise that the previous war between the werewolf packs was eventually started by the Red Dawn. But due to the peace treaty , the bloodshed ended but the thirst for blood and power of their Alpha remained unquenched. The Crescents, were a pack that were descendants of the Silver Moon pack. They were led by their alpha, Finrald. He was a fairly strong Alpha in his own way. His peace-loving nature, often mistaken for his weakness, was, actually his strongest attribute, because he could go to great lengths to secure peace among the packs and that in itself was true strength. Their physical attributes were somewhat similar to that of the Silver Moon pack, right down to their silver hair, although diluted. They were recognised by a crescent shaped birth-mark on the base of their neck, which was unique to the pack. There were a few members like Alpha Finrald, whose strength surpassed those of the Silver Moon. The Grey dusk pack, to which I belonged, was not as strong as the Silver moon or the Red Dawn, but we could stand our ground in a battle all the same. My father was the Beta of the pack, the second in command, with Alpha Lionel as our leader. My father and the Alpha were best of friends. They had fought many battles together, standing back to back and saving each other’s life in more than one occasions. Alpha Lionel was a fair and just Alpha, and he desired peace where it could be obtained, and picked battles only when it was unavoidable. My mother, Diane, she was a member of the Silver moon pack and she was beautiful. I remember her long silver hair, much like my Luna’s. She had the kindest heart and a strong presence. Everyone respected her. She was a healer, and healed people regardless of the pack they belonged to. Her aura was undeniable.  She taught me all about medicinal herbs and potions which did come in handy while making a potion that suppressed Luna’s wolf instincts. After the fall of the Silver Moon Pack, the other packs retreated into hiding. Their numbers dwindling everyday. They were there somewhere, but I couldn't care less about any of that anymore. That was a life I left behind years ago, and I had no intention of going back to it anytime soon. But they were all gone now, and I was still here. I dreaded the moment when I’d have to finally reveal the truth about her existence to Luna. I wanted to put it off for as long as I could. But I’d have to tell her eventually, this was certain.s
