Chapter 4 ~Elena~ “Huh,” I muttered, my eyes widened in shock as I stared at the spilled milk. “How dare you?” The lady spat, her hand crashing on my face sharply. “You filthy thing,” she added. I held my cheeks tightly, tears welled up in my eyes. “I'm s-sorry ma'am,” I stuttered, using my dress to clean hers but she pushed me away. “You filthy thing, who the hell do you think you are?” “I'm sorry my princess, I'm so sorry,” the chief maid ran towards the scene, beads of sweat dripping from her face as she pleaded on my behalf. “Enough!” the princess sparked, her eyes fixed on me with an intensity that I couldn't decipher. “What's your name?” She asked, her voice laced with rage. This was the third time my name was being asked in a day and I didn't like the feel of it. “E-Emily ma, sorry, my princess,” I stuttered, my gaze fixed on the floor. She leaned closer, her face only an inch away from mine as she sniffed my hair. “You are human,” she said, her face twisted in a frown. “Who let a human in here?” She added, her voice filled with venom. No one answered as everyone seemed to loathe her. Suddenly the chief maid came forward, her body trembling as she spoke. “It’s lord Ethan, my lady, he sent her here,” she muttered, her lips quivering. “Huh! Ethan allowed a human maiden?” The princess asked, her brows creased in confusion. All through their conversation, I remained mute, wriggling my fingers nervously as I awaited my faith. “Come here,” the princess barked, pulling my arms aggressively before stepping out. She held my arms tightly, pulling me with her as we walked through a bustling corridor that led us inside the castle, all the way to the king's chamber. “Look what we have here,” the princess said as she barged into his chamber, pulling me along. The king of lycans, as they called him, was indeed just as scary as the stories about him. His tall and imposing figure sent a cold shiver down my back, his green eyes piercing into my soul. “What is the meaning of this, Rhoda,” he sparked, his eyes narrowed suspiciously. “Forgive my intrusion, my lord, but someone brought in a human,” she replied, pushing me forward. “A human? Who the hell did that?” He sparked, his gaze fixed on me. “Who allowed you in?” He asked. “I did,” someone suddenly interrupted. “I let her in,” the voice came again as Ethan walked in, his face twisted in a frown. “Well, well, well, if isn't the bastard son,” another voice came from behind followed by a direct replica of Ethan, except for his brown hair and scar. “Hello, brother,” he sneered, a sly smile on his face. “Causing mischief as usual?” He added, chuckling lightly. “Buzz off,” Ethan growled, his fist clenched. “Venon, you are here,” the king said, his eyes darting between the both of them. “Talk to your brother,” he growled before heading out. And once again, just like before, I remained mute as they fought over me. “Go back to your duty,” Ethan whispered, nudging me forward. “Thank you,” I mouthed, my gaze drifted as I scurried out. ________ Zzzzzzzzzzzz My alarm blared noisily, making my eyes flutter open immediately but the rays from the scorching sun made me shut it back slowly. “f**k!” I cursed as I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall, it was almost past my duty time. “Ethan will kill me?” I muttered, dashing out from bed as I ran to the bathroom. After about ten minutes, I was done dressing up, ready to head out. “I guess I can live in this,” I whispered, smiling sheepishly as I drooled at my new body in front of the mirror. My hair was styled backwards with a few strands falling in front of my face. My blue maiden gown tucked properly to my body, bringing out my delicate curves. “You can do this,” I mumbled, exhaling sharply as I walked out. _______ “You are late,” the chief maid said immediately as I entered, her face twisted in a frown. “I'm sorry,” I muttered, grabbing Ethan's breakfast from the shelf as I dashed out. “Phew!” I exhaled once I was outside, I didn't realize I had been holding my breath all this while. “Ethan will be pissed,” I muttered, my pace increased as I got closer to his room. 'He might be rebellious and feared by all but that was exactly what I wanted, someone that could help me achieve my aim.’ Finally, I was in front of his door, the notorious Ethan Droker. “Let's do this,” I whispered, my palms sweaty as beads of sweat trickled down my face. I gently knocked on the door, waiting silently before he spoke. “Come in,” he growled, his voice harsh and cold. The door made a slight creak as I opened it and there he was, shirtless, his tattoos glinting in the dark. The stench of alcohol hit me immediately I entered, making my eyes dizzy. His room was spacious with a wolf's statue by the side. He was backing me, his gaze fixed on what he was watching through the window. “Sorry I'm late,” I muttered, standing fixed on a spot, my heart pounding in my chest. “Drop it and leave,” he said, his gaze still fixed on the window. I slowly dragged my legs past him as I stealthily dropped the tray on a shelf by his side. He was still not paying me any attention, so I had to get him to notice me. I thought of a way to achieve that but nothing seemed to come up. After a series of back and forth, I decided to spill the beans. “What's the worst that could happen anyway?” I thought, my mind made up. “I need your help,” I blurted out, my gaze dropped as I fiddled with my fingers nervously. He remained mute, his gaze still drifted without paying me a glance. “Please, I really need your help,” I repeated, my voice clouded with sadness but he still remained mute. “I guess I will just handle it myself then.” “Wait” he snapped, turning his back to face me. “How can I help you?” He asked, his voice shrill and tender. I hesitated for a while, contemplating my next choice of words. “I want to hurt someone, and I want it to be bad,” I said, my gaze soft and innocent. He stared at me, a small smile on his face. And what do I get in return?” He asked, his brows creased. “Uhm, uhm, what do you want?” I asked, biting my lower lip nervously with my gaze fixed on the floor. He leaned closer, caressing my flushed cheeks, his hot breath sending hot waves down my face. “What can you give me?” He asked, his alcohol scent filling my nose. “Uhm, money, I will give you money,” I mumbled sheepishly, my eyes gleaming in excitement. “Pftt,” he scoffed, taking a few steps back. “I want to own you. Will you be mine?” he asked, his voice firm and cold. “Huh?”
