BETWEEN TWO DEVILS

NOAH’S POV

I dropped her off at her house. I’m not gonna lie, I have a thing for this girl I met at the bar. I saw her at her most vulnerable moment there, and I wanted to make her mine. I wanted to be the one to solve whatever issues she had, lol.

After that day at the bar, I thought I would never run into her again. I regretted not getting her number or knowing anything about her. I guess I was just too lost in the moment.

My life is simple. I own 40 percent of the shares in Vance Enterprises, which is just one of many businesses in my chain. Mateo was my buddy from school. I’ve known him for 5 to 6 years now. It’s safe to say we’re brothers, because “best friend” feels too casual for what we’ve been through and how we worked our way to the top.

I was surprised to see Olandria. The girl who’s had my brain in a frenzy is now working here? As Mateo’s assistant? I wasn’t expecting that. But I’m kind of glad she’s here. That means I have to be punctual at work now, lol. This is going to be fun, I thought to myself.

She’s scared of Mateo, and she should be, because he’s a ruthless, spoilt brat. It’s not really my place to tell her that, but for some reason I noticed Mateo is awkward around her. Not the way I’ve seen him act with his former assistants. I really don’t know what to make of his behavior.

I went to his office earlier and jokingly asked, in between conversations, what his deal was with the new girl. He immediately shut me out and said, “It’s none of your business.”

The last thing he told me was, “Stay away from her.”

That was weird. He’s never said something like that about any of his workers before. Not that I’ve ever shown interest in any of them. But I knew something was up. I didn’t care though. I was going to pursue her, because I like her a lot.

I knew Mateo was going to make her first day hell, because that’s his usual behavior. But with Olandria, it was worse.

So when I closed, I waited outside in my car hoping to catch her so I could offer her a ride home. The drive was chill and smooth. We didn’t speak about anything. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to talk, but she looked tired and stressed, probably from the workload our lord Mateo gave her, lol.

Not knowing what to ask next, I blurted out, “There are so many things I’d like to know about you. But first, how do you know my best friend Mateo? It seemed like you guys know each other.”

“Best friend?” she asked, shocked, like I’d just said the most ridiculous thing ever.

“He’s my boss. How else am I supposed to know him, if not for work?”

Silence followed until I dropped her off at her home. Something isn’t right, I knew it. But I shrugged it off and decided to focus on getting her attention.

“Thanks for the ride,” she said. “Do you mind a drink, at least to say thank you?”

I was more than happy to say yes, but I didn’t show it.

“Why not? One drink doesn’t hurt,” lol.

We got to her door. I watched her struggle with the key, and when she finally opened it, she ushered me in. Her place was small, just the right size for a petite woman like her. Her home smelled like peace.

I immediately had wild thoughts about having her on the dining table. Man, I need to snap out of this before she reads my mind and thinks I’m a pervert. The last thing I want is for her to be uncomfortable around me.

She opened the fridge and brought out two canned beers. We drank, laughed, and talked about life. I told her how surprised I was to see her in the office, that I thought I’d never see her again. She said her flabber was more gassed, lol 😂. We laughed at her joke.

Then all of a sudden, I started noticing everything about her. Her brown eyes, long legs, and the way she carried herself. I won’t lie, right here and right now, I’d have her if she let me.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this sexually attracted to a woman before. Before I knew it, the words came out of my mouth:

“You’re the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen.”

I could see her cheeks go bright red.

“I’d love to do this again another time,” I told her, and I left immediately before I did something crazy
