The king of Randa started to speak to his large army. From the tower of the palace a palace guard was standing, with a woman standing beside him. At first he didn't take notice of her until she started speaking.
"Will anything good ever happen to Randa again? Your king is making a mistake"
The palace soldier turned to look at her and stared at her from head to toe but failed to recognise her. He removed his eyes and spoke rudely. "What do you know about war. You are just a woman"
"Do you have children?" asked the woman. The soldier turned to look at her again and this time he wanted to her to give him space.
"I know that which you think. You are thinking of telling me to give you space. This is how you want to put it: Woman, give me enough space" The woman smiled and the soldier became troubled as he took two steps away from the woman.
"who are you?" he asked.
"I asked you again, do you have children and wife?" asked the woman.
"No but...
"There is no but. You have no responsibility. Your king is preparing to go to war against good and you are supporting his evil intentions. You are a soldier aren't you? What you do is follow orders whether good or bad. But I remember you. You came to my shrine with your king and you watched him strick me down with his heavy sword. You didn't react nor did you feel any pain in your heart for me"
this utterances of the woman scared the soldier as he now understood who was standing before him. That was Adola's mother, her ghost. He tried to scream but found out he could no longer talk or produce any sound.
I'm going to use you to send a message to the rest of the soldiers chanting war songs. They will then know that their journey is a journey to their doom. It will a bad omen to their cause and a sign of their impending disaster"
After she was done the soldier turned to run but Adola's mother's ghost was already standing in front of him. She held him by the shoulder and tossed him down from the tower. Immediately he let him go his throat was freed and he began to shout all the way down. The attention of all the soldiers in the camp, including the king was drawn as they watched him fall. He landed on the ground and smashed his head on a rock. The king and the rest then looked up the tower to see a woman standing there. The king recognised the face. The soldiers became troubled. That wasn't a good sign.
The king turned to them and said, "Do not be distracted. We have prepared for and war we shall go. Ifite! Ifite!! Ifite!!!
The rest of the soldiers followed suit in chanting the word as they began to make their way out of the camp and headed to the land of Ifite.
On their way to Ifite, Dan Anoshi and Adola with the two Dark Men of Ifite encountered a deserted camp and Adola queried the two Dark Men, " Where is this?"
One of the Dark Men spoke, "That is the camp of the Dark Men of Ifite. That is also the boundary that separates us from the land of Anani, the land of witches but Anani belongs to Ifite and so the witches there are under the command of the ruler of Ifite"
"They are not under the authority of anyone or any ruler. They rule themselves" said the next Dark Man.
"Why is the camp deserted?" asked Dan.
"If the Dark Men have left here it can only mean one thing. They have headed to Anani; that dangerous place" said one of the Dark Men.
"Why?" asked Adola.
"To join forces with the witches or should I say to get fortified by the mother witch in preparation against you" said the next Dark Man.
"The Mother Witch?. The one her name is known all over the world?" asked Adola.
"Yes" answered one of the men.
"I thought she was living with the rest of her witches in the desert of Chama. Has she extended her dominion to Anani?" asked Dan.
"She was chased out of Chama by the god of destiny. The desert of Chama is a sacred place of dwelling for the god of destiny and so no one is allowed to live there and Anani belongs to Ifite. She is under the leadership of the ruler of Ifite and so she aids him in times of trouble" said one of the men.
"Maybe we should go to Anani. I would like to see how well these people are preparing against me" Dan said and smiled.
"Maybe we should go to the palace of the ruler of Ifite. He is the one we have business with. Do not carry war to a man's house if he hasn't declared his intention to go into battle with you. The witches have not troubled anyone. We can only fight them if we see them join forces with our enemies" said Adola.
"Your mother was right. You are truly wise" said Dan. Adola flashed him a cute smile and they began to journey to the palace of Ifite with the two men riding with them.
*************
In Anani, the mother witch was attending to her son's wounds which he sustained on her right arm during hunting, as she scolded him, "You should learn to use your powers when necessary" she said angrily.
"It was just a cute animal mother. I couldn't hurt it" said Yama.
"Do you know that cute things kill far more easily and the reason is because strong people underestimate them. I need you to know that the gods blessed us with these powers so that we can use it. Use yours. I have never seen you using your powers. Make use of it now" She sounded disappointed and Yama nodded and decided to showcase his power to convince his mother that he too was a witch. He closed up his arm and used his left palm to hold the spot he sustained the wound. He closed his eyes and the mother kept watching, expecting something she would call unique. At that particular point smoke started coming out of the spot and he removed his arm only to reveal a fresh flesh with no wound on it. The mother's jaw fell open as he continued to watch.
"No one in Anani has this kind of gift. You can heal wounds in seconds? And...and no scars?" she touched the spot and continued, "It looks fresh, like nothing happened. Son, you are special. Tell me other things you can do" she was curious. Yama smiled and shook his head. He stood up and sat on the edge of the bed.
"Mother, I have not said it to you before but I can do far worse things" he said.
"It is not worse, better!" she corrected him but Yama shook his head. "Tell me son" she continued, "What other things can you command with your mind?"
"I can command you to be totally submissive to me. I can make you my slave in seconds" he said and the mother's jaw fell open once more and she stood and went outside. She returned seconds after with one of the guards positioned outside. He said to the guard, "I'm your mother witch and I tell you not to obey any single instruction my son is about to give you. Have I made myself clear?" The guard nodded and the mother witch turned to her son and said, "Over to you. Make him disobey my order if you say you can"
Yama continued to look at the guard. After sometime the guard went down on his kneels. "Tell me whatever you want me to do and I will do it my lord"
"I want you to carry my mother in your arms" Said Yama and immediately the guard dropped his sword and before the mother with could stop him he had already lifted her up in his arms and waiting for when his master would say otherwise.
"Put me down" commanded the mother witch but the guard kept on carrying her as he says, "I can't do what my master has not commanded. If he says I should put you down I will. If he says I must not I will carry you like this forever"
"Put her down" commanded Yama and the guard put her down at once.
Yama stared into his eyes again and said to his mother, "He is yours"
"You can go back to your post" said the mother witch and the guard bowed before her and left.
the mother witch sat on the bed beside her son and sighed. "You are a god" she said to him.
"I am not. the gods gives gifts" said Yama.
The mother hugged him tightly and then all of a sudden she said, "The world is now in our palms.
"What do you mean mother?" asked Yama.
"With your kind of gift even the Ifites cannot lay claim on this land of Anani again. With your gift we can take over Ifite, we can take over the land of Randa, we have take over the whole world" said the mother witch. Yama stood up and sat on another edge.
"What is it son?" she asked.
"I never wanted to use my gift because I know that children of me will want to take advantage of it against the innocent. What will we do with the world if we get it in our palms?" he asked his mother.
"my son, you know how your father died. You know how the god of destiny butchered him in the desert of Chama. We have to finish what he started. We have to take what rightfully belongs to us" said the witch mother.
"And what is that?" asked Yama.
"The world!!! The world my son, the whole of the earth!!!" said the mother with shinning eyes of greed. Yama was surprised for he had never known his mother to possess so much greed. He had always seen her as a person of love, kindness and fair judgement. What happened just now was the total opposite of what she used to be. Power corrupts and Yama knew this. He stood up and paced. After a while he stood before the mother and spoke.
"If you want the world mother I will give it to you. If that will make you happy I will"
The mother rose and held both of his shoulders, saying, "honor me my son"
