I shut my eyes impossibly hard as if that would wipe out from my memory the image of James and Annette so close to each other.
I head straight upstairs, hoping I won’t stumble upon any of James’ men. His betas. I recently realized why there are men who are so close to him, apparently ready to sacrifice themselves for James. This goes beyond normal human loyalty. The betas are destined to serve the alpha.
