Chapter 6:The Unseen Eyes

636 Words
The next morning, Hana’s heart raced as she walked through the school gates. The promise of Minjun’s weighed heavily on her mind, She had barely slept, replaying every word of his quiet confession. Inside, the corridors buzzed with chatter. But for Hana everything felt muted, her eyes scanning for Minjun. “Good morning.” She turned to see Jisoo, waiting at her locker. His familiar smile should have comforted her, but Hana noticed something different today. His smile didn’t reach his eyes. “You’re early,” she said. “I thought I should walk you to class. Just to make sure…” He trailed off, glancing around as if searching the shadows. Hana sighed. “Jisoo, I’m fine.” But even as she said it, her chest tightened. Was she really fine? The literature club room smelled faintly of old paper and ink. Hana entered quietly, but Minjun was already there, leaning against the window. “You came,” he said, his voice softer than usual. “You asked me to,” Hana replied, setting her bag down. Minjun smiled faintly and slid a worn notebook across the table. Its pages were filled with neat handwriting. “What’s this?” Hana asked, touching the cover. “My writing,” Minjun said, almost shyly. “Poems, stories… stuff I don’t let people read.” Hana blinked in surprise. “Why are you showing me?” “Because,” he murmured, “you’re different. You actually see people, Hana. You see me.” Her throat tightened. She opened the notebook, reading a short poem about loneliness hidden behind laughter. It was raw, vulnerable, nothing like the Minjun she thought she knew. Their eyes met, and for a heartbeat, the world outside the clubroom ceased to exist. On her way home that evening, Hana clutched the memory of Minjun’s words to her chest. She had almost forgotten the strange notes. Almost. But then, as she turned a quiet corner, she froze. There it was. Another folded slip of paper on the ground, with her name written in sharp strokes. Her hands trembled as she picked it up. “You’re not safe. He can’t protect you. Neither of them can.” Her blood ran cold. She looked around, but the street was empty. Still, she felt it eyes watching her, unseen but close. She wanted to scream, but her voice caught in her throat. Jisoo’s Anger By the time Hana reached home, Jisoo was waiting outside her gate. He noticed her pale face immediately. “Hana what happened?” His voice was urgent. “Nothing,” she whispered, hiding the note behind her back. “Don’t lie to me,” he snapped, his frustration breaking through. “I see it. You’ve been hiding things from me ever since he” Jisoo stopped, his jaw tightening. Hana swallowed hard. “Jisoo… please. Not now.” He clenched his fists, torn between anger and helplessness. “I just don’t want you to get hurt.” Her heart ached at his words. She wanted to tell him everything, to lean on his steadiness. But then Minjun’s voice echoed in her mind, the sincerity in his eyes when he said she saw him. Two boys. Two different kinds of care. And in the middle, her fragile heart. That night, Hana lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. She slipped the note from under her pillow, reading the words again and again. The fear pressed down on her, but so did something else: curiosity. Who was leaving these notes? Why her? And as the moonlight spilled into her room, Hana couldn’t shake the feeling that someone out there was waiting, watchin, ready to strike when she least expected it. The shadows were closing in, and she knew the next step she took could change everything.
