Joanna-Rose
“You mean Dahlia?” He questioned me, staring at me bewildered. “Were you worried that I was with her?”
So her name was Dahlia.
“You are not.” I asked. “Isn't she your girlfriend?’'’
“Why would I have a girlfriend and still want a bride?”
“Who is she, then?”
“She is my little sister. The second ruler of hell.” He answered, glancing straight at the part ahead. “I should introduce you to her before the wedding.”
The answer he gave made me feel relieved but also made me feel stupid. I should have walked up to him and taken the flowers from him.
“When is the wedding?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Are we going to wed in a church?”
His jaw flexed. “I can't go into a church. Demons can't; do you really want to get married in a church that bad?”
I shook my head. “It doesn't matter if it is a church.”
“You don't seem terrified to get married to me or stay here.”
“Should I be terrified?”
“I guess not. Other brides usually run away as soon as they see my real form or as soon as they come here.”
“Oh.” I muttered, I wasn't the only bride that had been here. “Was it a marriage of convenience like this one?”
"Yes, it was a marriage of convenience.” He answered. “However, it has nothing to do with gains from both sides because I have no reason to help him if he treats you that way.”
Holding on tight to him, a smirk curled up on my lips. Since he was getting married to me, I had to find a way to be useful to him so he wouldn't toss me aside.
After all, I have nowhere to go if he does.
“We are here.” He announced, pushing my room door open and walking in.
I was still having a hard time calling it my room.
“You can have a bath and go to bed.”
He placed me on the bed and turned around to leave. Why was he asking me to go to bed when it wasn't night yet?
I took a nap not too long ago.
“Lestas?” I called out.
“Yes?” He glanced back at me.
“Could you tell Emmy to come to my room for a bit?”
“Sure.”
He walked out of the room, and I just stared at the empty space. As I waited for Emmy, I spent the time bathing, and when I was done, I laid on the bed, pulling the blankets over my body.
Tossing and turning, I closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep, but it was impossible. Wasn't Emmy coming?
Getting off the bed, my feet landed on the floor softly. The day was getting darker, and she wasn't here yet.
I was bored and needed something to do. A book would keep me busy and less bored.
Dashing for the door, I pulled it open and took a peek outside. The hall was large, long, and empty. Heading out, I walked in the direction I thought the library was.
I used the opportunity to glance at the interior of the house. It was nothing like the one I knew back home; it was more luxurious.
I didn't know how much I had walked, but when I stopped, I realized that I was lost and couldn't figure it out on the way back.
I was so caught up with the designs that I hadn't paid attention to the environment. The hall was also quiet; there was no one to ask for directions back.
Moving forward, I decided I was going to find a room and ask whoever was in to guide me back.
I knocked on the first door I found. My hand had just touched the door when it opened.
I hesitated before taking a peek inside the room. The lights in the room were on, and my eyes rounded as I stared at the beautiful decorations.
The room was so gorgeous that it looked like I had just been in paradise.
I pushed open the door and entered, hoping to find someone in the room, but there was no one.
I ran my hand on the table, glancing at the things on it, and finally, my eyes landed on a book. Picking up the book, I walked over to the couch and sat on it.
I began reading the book, my eyes often leaving the book to glance around the place.
I waited and, at the same time, read; however, I couldn't wait anymore since I was starting to feel sleepy.
The book dropped from my hand, and I leaned in against the couch. I had no idea how long I had been asleep, but I felt someone move me before dropping me on a softer surface.
The person was playing with my hair; it was like they found it fascinating enough to play with it.
Was it Emmy? I didn't open my eyes, but I let sleep engulf me. Before I could fall asleep properly, I heard the person say...
“The new bride, huh? She is pretty."
