JOANNA-ROSE
I was asleep when he brought me into the house. I don't know how long I slept, but one thing was for sure: the bed I was laying on was incredibly soft. I haven't been in such a comfortable bed before. I felt like I was lying on a cloud. As soon as my eyes opened, I found myself in a large room, with the wall at the other end.
I couldn't feel the pain in my ribs or face again; it was like they had disappeared. When I touched my face, it wasn't swollen, and the pain was really gone. I sat up on the bed and surveyed the room. My eyes widened at the sight before me. The walls were draped in velvet, and the floor was so smooth that it seemed to sparkle. The chandelier was dazzling; I could almost feel my worries melting away as I got off the bed.
I took a deep breath, and the scent of roses and vanilla enveloped me. I felt like I had stepped into another world, a place of luxury and comfort. I headed for the door; he had taken me home and miraculously treated my injuries. I wanted to know how long I had been unconscious.
I turned the doorknob and peeked outside; the hallway was empty. I stepped outside and made my way around the house. Every path I passed screamed luxury; damn, was he wealthy? This was the first time in my life that I had woken up and moved around a house without getting yelled at or screamed at.
Soon, I found myself in a large living room. I spun around as I glanced at the decorations. Something about the house looked ancient; it was like I had stepped into a fantasy world. I kept on walking; the house was so big that I had no idea where I was anymore.
I was about to give up and return to the room I had woken up in until I heard a voice behind me.
"Young Miss, I have been looking for you." A lady's voice came from behind me.
I turned around to face a lady who had a beautiful smile on her face. Her eyes were bright purple, her hair was bright purple, and she was wearing all purple—light purple shorts, a light crop top, and purple boots. She looked around my age.
I was still a college student and recently turned 21, so I guess she is the same age as me. I felt relieved to have someone my age around me. I have never had any friends, nor have I been allowed to have friends.
"Umm, hi…"
"It's Emmy." She beamed in excitement. "After working here for two years, I finally found someone my age, and I am your personal maid."
"Okay." I raised my brows, confused by why she was so excited to see me.
Emmy tossed her hair and gave me a warm smile. "Do I look weird in all purple?"
I shook my head. "You are gorgeous."
I wasn't lying; she looked so beautiful in all purple. It was like purple was made for her.
"Really? Thanks." She mumbled. "I was cursed, and I had to wear only purple until I broke the curse."
I blinked in confusion at her mention of a curse. I had no idea what she was talking about; first, I was meeting a demon, and now it was a cursed girl. My eyes widened; I had totally forgotten that I was in the home of a demon. Even though I tried to convince myself that I had hallucinated him that morning as a demon, I couldn't do that; he was real, and he was a demon.
"What about Lestas?" I inquired.
"Oh, your fiance? He already went to his company, and he asked me to stay with you. You are getting enrolled in the same school as me."
I kind of like the sound of that. She didn't mention that Lestas was a demon and he had a real job, but he told me he was the ruler of the nine hells. Don't they just sit on the throne all day and do nothing?
"What do we do next?" I asked Emmy, not knowing what to say.
She pulled out a black card from her pocket and waved it in front of me.
"Guess what?" She chuckled softly and waited for me to guess.
"What? I am not a good guesser." I stared open-eyed at the girl, who was at ease as she spoke to me.
Her behavior made me want to smile; this was the first time someone had spoken to me like she did. It was like I was a gem that only had the chance to speak.
"The master gave me his card and asked me to hand it over to you. He wants me to take you out shopping. I was so surprised when he gave it to me; he never gives it to anyone, and he definitely doesn't let anyone call him by his real name." Emmy lowered her voice, like she was trying to hide what she was saying.
"What do you call him?" I couldn't help but ask.
"Master Asmodeus." She replied. "I was meant to welcome you to our hell in the human world."
I rolled my eyes at her. "Don't tell me you all are demons."
"I am a demon." She responded. "We are the demon of happiness, and we are fun to be with. What type of demon are you?"
I stared at her blankly as she asked me that question. I figured out that she had no idea that I was a human.
"An animal demon." I muttered before I could stop myself.
Her brows furrowed in confusion. "I never heard of that kind of demon."
"You said you were cursed." I tried to shift the discussion to what type of demon I was.
"Yes, I was cursed to be the demon of happiness, and I am only allowed to wear purple, or I would die."
Well, that sounded bad. I couldn't imagine being forced to wear only one color all my life.
"Do you like it?"
She nodded. "Yes, it's fun, and purple is a great color."
I did not want to ask more questions because I felt like I was invading her personal life, and she couldn't hide anything from me because I was her king's fiance. She moved behind me and began pushing me towards the path that led me here.
"I will pick out clothes for you while you shower." Emmy informed me. "Then we will head out for shopping."
I didn't argue; I just let myself be pushed towards the room I once left. I couldn't believe that in just a blink of an eye, I was going to be respected like a demon queen. Guess what? I was going to be a demon queen soon, and I was damn scared. I was going to be surrounded by demons, and each demon had its own category. I was glad I was left with a human-like demon. The demon of happiness wasn't going to be evil, was she?
I hope she is going to stay happy for as long as she can. Now I just had to think about the clothes she wants to pick for me. I pray she doesn't pick purple.
