Chapter 2

1021 Words
Scarlett POV Without locking my car door or checking other stuff, I got out of my car and ran into the restaurant where I was supposed to meet my boyfriend, Mike. I pushed the door to the restaurant open with force and the moment I stepped in, I came face to face with my boyfriend, who had a long frown on his face. I paused and took in a long deep sigh to stabilize my breath before looking back at his angry face. “I…I…I'm sorry…” I stuttered, panting heavily. “You're late again, Scarlett!” Mike yelled at me before checking his wristwatch. “We're supposed to meet here by 4 pm and you're just coming by 8?!” “I'm sorry, there was an emergency at the hospital and…” “Let's break up.” He cut me off with a low, thick voice that left me startled and speechless. Mike and I have been dating since high school, so I didn't expect that he would break up with me so easily, as if it was nothing. “Mike, I can explain …” My phone started ringing, and he scoffed, knowing what it meant and, just like he had predicted, it was a phone call from the hospital. “God damnit!” I cursed under my breath before picking up the call. “Hello, there's an emergency! We need you at the hospital now!” A worried voice informed me from the other side of the phone. “I left the hospital just now. I spent about five hours on the last surgery. I'm also a human!” I said with so much grievance in my voice, hoping the other person on the line would understand. "We're sorry, Doctor Scarlett, but you're a genius and all your surgeries are successful, so we can't blame the patients for wanting you to be their surgeon." “I'm sorry, but I can't make it…” “Come back, the patient is almost giving up.” The lady on the phone sounded impatient, and I could hear a low whimper in the background. “Wait…” Before I could complete my words, the call ended, and I knew I had to go. “I'm sorry Mike, we'll talk later.” Without waiting for his reply, I turned around and ran back to my car. I put on the engine and sped up to the highway. I know my romantic life is important, but the lives of my patients are also important. I was so worried that I sped up, and as different thoughts clouded my mind, I failed to notice the oncoming vehicle until it was too late. The last thing I saw and heard was the shattering of my car's glass as my car somersaulted, and then everything went blank. ********** “My lady!” "My lady, please don't die! Wake up!" a worried voice begged, the voice ringing in my ear with urgency as I lay motionless on the floor, my eyes closed, my body drenched in water. I don't know exactly where I'm or if I'm dead or alive, but I can hear the voices surrounding me clearly. “My lady, you can't die, what am I supposed to do without you?” The worried voice continued to cry, and I wondered if I had died after being hit by that car. Of course, I should be dead, but strangely enough, I didn't feel any pain and I wondered why I was drenched with water. "Stop making noise with your cry!" A voice that sounded like that of a frog's croak roared through the air. "Ugh, I'm so annoyed. The Alpha prince shouldn't have married this woman. She should have died somewhere else, not here. Guards, take her away and bury her outside the pack house!" The woman ordered. I felt two strong arms lift me up, attempting to carry me away. “Don't do this to my lady, she's the daughter of a beta. You can't treat her like this.” The girl who was crying previously tried to stop them. “Really?” The woman with a frog voice scoffed. “This is North Hill Packhouse, she's nothing but an unloved wife here. What are you still waiting for? Drag her out of here!” She commanded. “No, you can't do that to my Lady.” Oh gosh, I can't take this anymore. Suddenly, I sat up on the floor and looked around me confidently. “Where am I? Haven't I arrived at the hospital?” I muttered to myself, looking around me with a confused brow. “She's risen from the dead.” A loud scream filled the entire air and those who surrounded me began to flee. “She became an evil spirit!” They all quivered away, including the guards, and I was left with a young maid who had tears all over her face and the frog-voiced woman who had ordered for me to be buried without attempting to check if I was dead or alive. “Stop shouting, I'm not dead, I'm still alive!” I cried out, and suddenly turned to face the woman with the frog-like voice. But the moment our eyes met, she gasped in horror and collapsed to the floor. “Who are you?” I asked the young lady who was standing before me. She was the only one left and the same person who had actually cried for me. “I'm Alice, your personal maid.” She stepped forward and introduced herself. “Alice…?” I tried to recall, but instead, I felt a sharp pain in my head as my memory drifted back to what happened before I found myself here, causing pain to shoot through me. I was hit by a car but as I looked down at my strange clothes, I realized that I was dressed in royal attire. And then it hit me - I have traveled back in time. A car accident has caused me to travel back in time! In the body of an unloved wife! Holy s**t!
