Adrian stepped into the study, the air already thick with his father’s presence. Cole didn’t look up immediately, swirling amber whiskey in his glass as though the world bent only to his rhythm. Then his voice came, smooth and heavy. “Selene.” Adrian stopped. The name carved itself into him like a scar. Slowly, his head turned toward his father. “What did you say?” Cole finally looked up, eyes sharp, lips curling into a thin, knowing line. “That’s her name. The girl you keep circling.
