Vienne's Pov
‘Gorgeous’...
Yeah.
But why did it suddenly feel so hot right after he said that.
I stroked the back of my neck to ease the tension while he went on with his food like he didn't just disrupt something in me.
Well, he didn't, literally.
I had asked him the question.
“You have the permission to upload my pictures anyways since you're not asking what you should.”
“I never needed that before posting before” I scoffed.
“And I could have you sued for intruding on my privacy”
Calloway surely prides himself, I never knew. More proof to why he doesn't give two flying ducks about the elite students in school.
I heard footsteps.
Someone was walking over. But I dare not look back.
Ryan?
I frowned; Ryan's shoes shouldn't sound like heels.
“You might want to brace up” Damon muttered at me, still not looking up from his food.
“What?” I was barely done asking when a feminine figure stood by our table instead. I scoffed as disappointment settled in me upon seeing Amelia's face. At this point, I want to believe she's obsessed with me. The thought of her showing up instead of Ryan had annoyed me; I don't want to see her face.
“What?” This time, I spat coolly at her.
She dared to scrutinize our table before looking down on me like she's so great or better than she is.
“I would take anything..I don't care whatever might have happened between you two in the past, but right now, Ryan is my man”
I gave her a blank stare, not knowing where all her rants were coming from. “Your point?”
“Stop acting like you don't know what you did or what you're doing? What do you think you're doing shamelessly ogling at him at the counter earlier? Stay away from him” she gritted out, glaring daggers down at me.
I offered her one of my saccharine smiles as I adjusted my hair. “I know nothing about what you're talking about. All I've been doing is trying to get back what a certain thief stole from me. Tell me Amelia, when someone steals from you, would you sit back and watch too? Obviously no.”
“You're calling me a thief? Stop acting so pathetic Vienne, you're going to soil the name of the Reyes family if you continue with this” she sneered.
“Are we bringing our family into this now? How dare you, Dawn?” My eyes narrowed at the thought of her even daring to insult my family name. I'm not so keen or bothered about family and hierarchy, which is a crazy issue in Minerva's high school, but if we're going to deal with family names, Amelia is way beneath. The Dawn family would sink.
A flicker of fear passed through her orbs before it disappeared again. “You're just all talk. You can't do anything to me. I have Ryan now” with that her hand faintly brushed over my food tray.
And all its contents splattered over to the floor.
The hall went silent in seconds.
She had made it seem like a mistake, but I know that was intentional.
“Oops!” Her nothing near remorseful voice squeaked. And not even an apology followed. I don't even need it.
Before she could even see it coming, I grabbed my smoothie cup and splashed all the content on her chest.
“Oops!” I squeaked out, mimicking her tone.
The shock on her face was priceless. Blood rushed to her face in anger and embarrassment.
I realized I had needed this moment for a while; it was satisfying to have her like this. The drink had spread its pinkish colour all over her school shirt and even down her skirt. What was she thinking? That I would watch her make a mess of me and go scot-free because of Ryan.
I'm Vienne Reyes for crying out loud. My mom could practically skin me alive if she hears such disturbing news.
Amelia still stood there, fuming while her hand twitched. My eyes narrowed. Would she dare to hit me?Of course she had the enticing intention as her hand slightly rose. And that got me on my feet fast.
Perhaps sitting down must have been making me look low and vulnerable to her all the while. I stepped towards her.
“Want to hit me?”
But her hand hung in the air while she fumed with a raged breath.
The tension could be cut with a knife in the cafeteria hall as the students' attention fell on us.
It was almost lethal.
The scrapping of the chair broke the silence as Damon stood to his feet. His hand shot out to reach for me, as he carefully pulled me round the table and behind him.
“That's enough” almost like he was chastising unruly kids.
But anyone sensible enough would be able to tell he was speaking up for me instead. He threw a look at Amelia as if daring her to come get me behind him.
Amelia scoffed, finally bringing down her hand. “Even the scholarship kid gets to talk?” She bit out in spite.
But the guy, aloof and unfazed as always, matched her gaze, muttering to her. “Why? I don't have a say? Even a loose lady gets to judge”...
Amelia stumbled back, momentarily gobsmacked. Even I at the moment felt bad for her. That was too harsh.
“Let's go” he picked up his empty food tray holding my hand with the other as we walked away from the seat and hall.
As we passed, I caught the sight of Ryan glaring at us. Or at the person holding my hand.
Stepping into the corridor, I yanked my hand out of his in annoyance.
“That stupid girl…” I gritted out. How dare she ruin my lunch. “I'm still hungry” I forced out.
“I think that's what you get for disrupting my lunch with you two’s cat fight. It had always been peaceful”
“At least, you got to eat”
“At least you got your revenge” he extended his hand to me. “Here” he gently placed a single candy in my palms and I couldn't help the twitch on my face.
“That should do” with that, he turned around walking away.
What??
“Thanks anyways” I unsurely said as he disappeared after cutting a corner through the corridor
