Doyle stood in the silence of the empty apartment, waiting for Brandon to change his mind and knock at the door to be let back in. He didn’t and Doyle had to reconcile himself to the fact that Brandon was an adult and could do as he pleased. If there was someone after him out there, he’d have to deal with it on his own. Doyle didn’t like that and wanted to chase after Brandon but he knew it’d do no good. Glancing at the clock on the credenza, he realized he had barely enough time to get to his appointment with Kevin. He’d arranged to meet him at his home and didn’t have much time to make the meeting. Wrapping himself in a warm coat, he rushed to find his car a block or two away. Relieved to see there was no ticket, he jumped in, started the car, and got to South Philly in record time. W
