Only a few people wandered through the Marriott’s large, marble-floored lobby. The week after New Year’s Day was downtime. A few business types, some shoppers, and nondescript others crisscrossed the spacious area. Kord was happy not having to navigate a crowded lobby where he might be seen by someone he and Doyle knew, which made him feel even sleazier than he already did.
