Chapter 15 Kord The Blond Roast cafe was on South Street but not on the old, formerly-funky side of the street. This cafe was west of Broad Street on a corridor of several blocks sheltering new enterprises, some of which were trying to up the class of the neighborhood. The old red-brick buildings were distinctively Philly but there was a different feel on this block which had been down and out for so long. Kord craned his neck, looking at the new storefronts one after another, until he reached The Blond Roast.
