Chapter 8 Kord Kord wasn’t happy they’d left Riley back at the office in their rush to leave, even though Doyle told him they’d be right back if he wanted to wait. Which he did. Kord swore under his breath. “Why’d we leave that kid in the office?” He hated running off and dropping everything like that. And this was for someone who wasn’t even a client yet. “It’ll be fine,” Doyle said. “He seems like a nice guy.” “So did Ted Bundy.” Kord snorted. “What if he’s got sticky fingers?” “Ted Bundy is dead. He doesn’t have fingers.” “You know what I mean.” Kord knew he shouldn’t be annoyed but he almost felt as if they were playing nursemaid to someone they hardly knew. “I knew we were leaving him there and I figured it might be sort of a test. We can see how he handles this kind of thing.
