As I was leaving a client’s office downtown, I realized how hungry I was. I hadn’t had anything since oatmeal at breakfast, and it was now after three in the afternoon. I headed to the nearby Whole Foods and checked out the hot food deli for a quick meal. After making my choices, I joined the line at the front to pay, then found a spot to eat by the glass windows. I took the first bite, laptop to my right as I typed one-handed and ate with the other. Out of the corner of my right eye, I saw someone take a seat in my booth across from me. Frowning, I looked up. And gaped, mouth full. “Lenny…what…hey, man. Long time.” I chewed and swallowed as I closed my computer and reached over the table to shake his hand. “Same here,” he replied, and that voice hadn’t changed one bit. Nor my reaction
