ð Episode 3: The Door Between Two Women
The rain had started again.
Drops slid down the windows of Ireneâs apartment as thunder rolled somewhere far above the Seoul skyline. Ares had fallen asleep on her couchâshirt unbuttoned, jaw clenched even in sleepâas if the world never gave him rest.
Irene just sat on the edge of the bed, hugging her knees, staring at the floor.
She used to think love was warm.
Now it felt like a knife that she kept pressing deeper into her own chest.
"Youâre the only thing that keeps me alive."
His words echoed like poison. Sweet. Addictive. And slowly killing her.
Suddenlyâa knock.
She blinked.
WhoâĶ?
Another knock. Louder. Sharper.
She stood up slowly, glancing once at Ares, still asleep. Her bare feet padded quietly across the floor.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
Heart pounding, she opened the door.
And froze.
There she stood.
Yena Kang.
Up close, she was even more beautiful than the magazines showed. A cream blazer. Sleek ponytail. Diamond earrings that glinted like judgment.
And those eyesâsharp, cruel, calculatingâscanned Irene from head to toe.
âYou must be Irene Min,â Yena said, her smile thin and cold.
Ireneâs voice stuck in her throat.
Yena didnât wait for permission.
She stepped inside.

âĶ Inside the Apartment
Ares sat up the moment he heard the voice. His body stiffened before he even turned to see.
âYena.â
Irene stood frozen between themâhis wife and his mistress now breathing the same air.
Yena looked calm. Too calm. Her eyes darted to the coffee mug Ares had used. His jacket on Ireneâs sofa. His tie tossed near the bed.
She turned to Irene with a tilt of her head. âIs he good in bed?â
Ireneâs cheeks flushed red.
âStop it,â Ares snapped, standing up fully.
But Yena didnât even blink. âNo. I want to know. Does he kiss you like heâs dying? Does he say he loves you when heââ
âI said STOP.â
His voice roared through the room, the thunder outside almost too quiet in comparison.
Yena turned to him slowly. âSo you do love her.â
He didnât answer.
And thatâĶ was the answer.

âĶ Ireneâs POV
Irene felt her chest crack open.
This wasnât how she wanted it to end. Not like this.
But maybe it had to.
She stepped between them, her voice shaking but steady.
âGo home, Mrs. Ji.â
Yenaâs lips twitched. âWhy? Afraid Iâll stay?â
Irene looked directly into her eyes. âNo. Iâm afraid Iâll stop asking him to leave.â
Ares opened his mouthâbut Irene turned away.
âThis ends tonight,â she said quietly. âNo more lies. No more stolen hours. You both belong to each other. Not me.â
Her voice broke on that last word.
And it was the last thing she said before closing her bedroom door behind her.
