Night with The Twin Rivers

Ch. 20

The alarm went off and they all stirred. Apparently they ended up passing out together on the Queen sized bed and it wasn’t exactly comfortable being squeezed together. They had to stretch out a bit after climbing out of bed as their bodies were stiff and sore. 

They managed to get ready for work, and even managed some quick showers. It was like they worked completely in sync and like they had always lived together. Soon they were in Steven’s car and he was driving them to her work to drop her off. She got out and hurried into the building and up to her office. Once she was inside and getting comfortable Jeromy knocked and walked in. He looked at her curiously. “You spent the night at their place last night?”

She gave him a small nod, “yes.”

He gave her an all knowing smile and walked further inside. “Congratulations. It’s about time. I am sure you are happy.” He said to her. 

Jena nodded again. “I am. We are going to look for a new place to live for the three of us.”

“And a bigger bed I’m assuming.” He chuckled. 

“A much bigger bed.” She stated. 

“So, do you want me to have someone pack up your house?” He asked her curiously. 

She sighed, “yes please. I don’t think it's safe for me to go back there. I would appreciate some care with whomever you send, don’t let them go alone.”

“I’ll make it a pack effort just in case someone tries to grab a hostage. In the meantime, make sure someone is always with you.” Jeromy stated. 

“Very well. I promise to keep someone with me. Steven and Shawn dropped me off a work this morning. I will order in, and stay within the building for a while to minimize going anywhere alone. You have my meeting schedule, and if I need to leave for a meeting you can accompany me. We will be starting the merger this week, after which one of them will be accompanying me.” She said. 

Jeromy smiled, “very well. I am glad this is all working out. It will be interesting to see everyone move about. Have you guys given thought on how the business will run? We can’t have two buildings running the same things.”

“This building will be the main building, and their building will be a branch. It will help us expand a bit. Steven had some ideas about how to upgrade our building.” She told him. 

“Oh really? I wonder how that will turn out. Did he tell you anything about what he is planning?” He asked. 

She shook her head, “no. He stated he wanted to keep it a surprise.” She laughed a little, “I did tell him no personal elevators and to keep the budget down.”

Jeromy laughed, “I could see how you would need to give him a warning about that. Their office was a bit extravagant. Is their house like that?”

“No, not really. It’s nice, and a lot cleaner than I thought it would be.” She said admittedly. 

Jeromy laughed, “not all men like to live in a mess. Some of us actually clean up after ourselves and cook.”

“You cook?” She asked him curiously. 

He shrugged, “maybe a little.”

She guessed even men had their own stereotypes like women had. Jena was about to ask him something else when her computer dinged and she looked over at her email and realized she hadn’t gotten started on going through everything. They just finalized the contract with the Cloud corporation and there were still a few things that needed to be gone through. 

Jeromy was about to get up to leave when she looked at him again, “could you please let Missy know that I am not expecting any visitors and to not let any get through. I will be sending out an update so that everyone understands that River corp. and Night corp. are merging. I will make sure she understands that Steven and Shawn are now CEOs of this company and that they are given all access that I have.”

He nodded, “understood. I will help prepare everything. Let me know what you need.”

“Send Heather in. I will go ahead and run her through everything, as she will be my main point of contact through the transition.” She said. 

“Very well. I will head to her office immediately and send her over to you.” Jeromy excused himself and headed out. 

While she was waiting for Heather to arrive she quickly started going through her emails and reading through, it was important to get herself set up for the day. There were a lot of reports and numbers to run on Mondays. 

There was a knock on the door and she looked up and signaled for them to come in. Heather walked in, “you wanted to see me?”

Jena signaled for her to sit down, and she did so. “I have a few things that I would like to go over with you so that we are on the same page.”

Heather nodded for her to continue. 

“River corp. and Night corp. are merging together. It will be a mutual merger, although some changes will need to be made. We have no intentions of laying anyone off, although some people may need to be relocated. This will stay the main branch, and the River building will be the secondary branch. This will allow us to stretch out a bit with some new ventures, as well as maintain what we are currently doing.” Jena stated. “Steven and Shawn will be making the transition to this building by next week. We will also be doing some upgrades through the building to bring us up to date. I will be sending you over information as we go through the change so that you may help direct everyone on the transition.”

“Will we be changing any jobs?” She asked. 

“Not that I can think of at the moment. If there are any job changes, it will be minimal. We will be keeping the general functions of each business the same, so it will be more or less bringing and keeping all the essentials here, and anyone that can be moved to the secondary building will be moved there.”

Heather nodded, “very well. Seems simple enough. What would you like me to start working on?”

“I would like you to start putting together an email to announce the merger. I want to reassure everyone that although there may be some slight job changes, that most jobs will remain the same through the transition. I don’t want them to worry about layoffs and that this is an opportunity for people to advance themselves as more positions will become available. Inform them that this will be the main building, and that we will now have a secondary building and as such there may be some relocations. If anyone has any questions or concerns they can direct them to us and we can answer them as we go along. Please also start putting together a meeting for Friday. That should give us enough time to get more things together. I will forward you Steven and Shawn’s email addresses so you can add them to your account, they will need to be CC’d on everything moving forward for communication purposes. They will also be given yours as well, I am sure they will have some things to send to you. We will be relying on your skills to get through this and making it as smooth as possible. You have done a wonderful job with everything so far, and I am confident that this will be no different.”

“I appreciate the confidence and the opportunity to assist during this time. I will do my best.” Heather stated. 

“I will be sending over all documents that I have to you immediately so you can get started. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I will do what I can to answer them.” Jena told her. 

Heather looked at her curiously. “I do have one question.”

Jena looked at her to continue. 

“Why the sudden merger? I haven’t heard anything or seen anything that would suggest there would be one. The last I saw you were competing with them.” Heather asked her and Jena could sense some discomfort in her tone. 

Jena gave her a small reassuring smile. “Steven, Shawn and I are married.” She stated in human terms. Heather was human and didn’t fully understand the wolf world. Jena had been attempting to keep her uninvolved as much as possible.

Heather looked at her curiously, “married? When was the wedding?” She looked a bit taken aback. 

Jena smirked, “it was a bit sudden and just sort of happened. Moving forward, it will be easier for us if we are working in the same building.”

“You said the merger is going to be mutual?” Heather asked. 

“Yes. Steven is putting together the contract now. Once he sends it over I will make sure you get a copy to look over in case you see anything that may need to be corrected. He has nothing but the best interest in heart for all of us. We are all family now. I know it may be hard for you to understand, and it can be a bit difficult to suddenly trust someone whom you just met, but both Steven and Shawn can be trusted completely. They will do nothing to harm anyone here, or me. Consider them an extension of myself moving forward. If you cannot reach me for some reason, Steven should be your next point of contact.” Jena informed her reassuringly. 

Heather still seemed a bit uneasy, but Jena wasn’t sure what to say to her to help ease her concerns. Without being a wolf and understanding how mates work, she would be skeptical. If Jena explained everything Heather would still be skeptical. It was best to try and ease her concerns as much as possible. 

“I will make sure that you meet with both of them soon so you can speak with them as soon as possible so you can get a feel for their character and how they operate. You will find that Steven functions very similar to myself. Shawn more or less just goes with the flow. He is free to make decisions, but he prefers that Steven or myself handle most of the finer details.” Jena stated. 

Heather nodded, “very well. I will get started immediately. Thank you for trusting me with such a big change.” She excused herself and got up to leave. 

Jena went back to getting her day started and to prepare this company for the changes coming their way. She was sure Steven had even more ideas with everything, and was already thinking miles ahead into the future before they secured their present, but that was something that she liked about him. They were sure to do great things together in the future and the company would thrive with his ideas. 

Before she knew it hours had passed and there was a knock on the door. She looked up to see Jeromy standing there with food and drinks. “I haven’t seen you move from that spot all day.” He walked up and placed some food on her desk with the drink. “I figured you haven’t eaten yet.”

“You figured right.” She said and took the bag of food and the drink from him graciously. “I appreciate the thought.”

“If I wasn’t looking out for you I am sure Steven and Shawn would have my head.” Jeromy stated with a chuckle. 

She couldn’t help but laugh a little at the thought, “you say that but I am sure Steven is just as buried in work as I am. I will need to call them to make sure that he is eating.”

“Stop working for a few minutes. Eat. Nothing will change in the next thirty minutes.” Jeromy stated. 

“Are you ordering your Alpha around?” She raised an eyebrow at him. 

He smirked, “I am trying to protect my alpha. If that requires giving her some direction, then yes.”

She laughed again, “very well. I accept your terms and I will take a small break.” She opened up the food and immediately started eating. 

Feeling satisfied he turned and left. 

Jena pulled out her phone and messaged the boys. “I was reminded that bodies need sustenance to function and operate. I wanted to pass along this reminder.”

A few moments later Shawn responded, “I appreciate the reminder but I have eaten. I think Steven might need a stronger reminder. I haven’t been able to get him away from his desk at all so far today. He’s become obsessed with this merger.”

Jena couldn’t help but smirk at the thought, “I appreciate his hard work.”

“Maybe you can do something to encourage him to move for the first time today.” Shawn stated. 

“What can I do from here?” She asked. 

“I am sure you can get creative. There are things you can do when we are a part to encourage him to move.” He stated. 

Jena thought about it a moment. They hadn’t tried mind linking yet. They were fully mated now, they should be able to mind link with each other as they were officially one pack. She closed her eyes and concentrated on mind linking with Steven. She felt the connection open, but it didn’t seem like Steven was paying attention. She focused on her feelings and pushed them through the connection. Warmth, love, and she thought about last night. There was a small growl from his end. 

“What the hell woman? Are you trying to make me change here?” Steven responded. 

Jena chuckled, “you were too focused. I needed to get your attention somehow. Maybe we can try some things in your office before you leave.” 

He growled again at the thought, “don’t tempt me. I may just come over there and bend you over your own desk.” 

She could feel herself heat up at the thought. Just imagining him bending her over the desk, grabbing her from behind, and plowing into her hard and rough. Documents scattered all around them. 

“Stop that!” She could feel tension building on his end. “I am going to lose it.”

“Hmm…” she said. “I would prefer it if you lost it all over me instead.”

“Woman. This isn’t fair. You're on the other side of town.” Steven said with some stress in his voice. “What do I need to do to make you stop so I can focus on something I can actually have at the moment?”

“Eating.”

He growled again and her body shook hard. “No, I mean food. Eat lunch. Shawn said you haven’t had lunch yet.”

“I had a granola bar not too long ago.” He stated. 

“That’s not food and we both know it. In fact I am pretty confident that the granola bar was actually when you first got there this morning and you haven’t eaten anything in hours.” She stated. 

Steven sighed a bit, “very well. I will get something to eat soon.”

“Nope. Stop and get something to eat now.” She told him. 

“Don’t…” he started to say. 

“Don’t argue with me Steven,” she said with a stiff tone but made sure it wasn’t threatening. “I am your mate and I have made a request of you. Stop and eat.”

There was a moment of silence, “very well. I will stop and get food.”

“Thank you.” She said to him. 

“You sound like my mate.” He stated. 

“You got a problem with that?” She asked him. 

Steven sent some warmth through their connection, “not at all.”

“I love you.” She said to him. 

She could feel him stop whatever he was about to do, and his heart skipped a beat. “I love you too.”

Jena let go of the connection and turned her focus back to her own food. She wasn’t supposed to do any work while she was eating, but talking with your mate wasn’t considered working, was it? She opened her connection with Shawn, and knew that would be less stressful as he was easier to talk to. 

“Well this is a nice surprise.” He said to her. 

“I tried it with Steven and I didn’t want to leave you out.” She said to him. 

“Ah, that must be why he suddenly turned red and stopped working. I just saw him head towards the cafeteria. Whatever you said to him worked, he walked off smiling instead of sulking.” Shawn said with a laugh. 

“I just promised him a good time.” She said with a chuckle. 

“Oh? I guess I should starve myself next time if that’s what I need to do to get some attention.” He joked. 

Jena sent him some warmth through their link. “I appreciate that you don’t forget about yourself. It’s important that you keep Steven and I in check.”

“Oh boy. He’s enough of a challenge, I am not sure I am up for double trouble.” He said. 

She thought of getting on her knees and sucking on him under the desk and she could feel him tense up a bit through the connection. “Woman, stop that.” He said. 

Jena couldn’t resist and sent her own desires on him, “it’ll be worth it, right?” She asked him. 

He growled a bit, “you have no idea.”

“You love me.” She said. 

“Very much.” He said. 

“I love you too.” She told him and she could feel him warm up to her words. 

Jena released the connection and finished the last few bites of her food and cleaned up quickly before going back to her own work, although it was a bit hard to focus after those fantasies played through her mind earlier. Taking a few deep breaths she managed to clear her mind long enough to finish her work for the day and head downstairs to meet with Steven and Shawn who picked her up. The mind link made things a bit easier because she didn’t need to rely on the phone to know if they were there or not. 

Once they were inside, they ushered her upstairs and to bed to make up for the fantasies she sent them earlier.
