  The Promise   The envelope sat between them like a loaded weapon.   Neither man touched it.   Outside, the city continued moving.   Cars filled the roads.   People hurried along sidewalks.   Meetings happened.   Deals were signed.   Life carried on.   Completely unaware that inside the boardroom of Clark Enterprises, two brothers were staring at the future they feared most.   Stanley couldn't take his eyes off the envelope.   Because deep down, he already knew.   Whatever was inside would change everything.   "Take it."   Steve's voice was calm.   Too calm.   Stanley hated that.   He hated how peaceful Steve had become.   As though he had already accepted something nobody else could.   "No."   Steve sighed.   "We've already had this conversation."   "We haven't."
