  THE QUESTION THAT WOULDN'T GO AWAY   The question followed Daisy home.   It followed her through lunch.   Through work.   Through the afternoon.   Through dinner.   And by bedtime, it was still sitting heavily inside her chest.   Why don't we have a daddy?   Children had a way of asking questions adults spent years avoiding.   Questions that seemed simple.   But weren't.   Questions that hurt.   Daisy stood in the kitchen staring out the window.   The city lights glittered beyond the glass.   Beautiful.   Distant.   Cold.   For five years she had managed to avoid this conversation.   Now she knew it was only the beginning.   The triplets were growing up.   Soon they would want answers.   Real answers.   And she wasn't sure she had them.   "Mommy?"   Daisy turned.
