Anthony was already moving before Martha finished speaking.
"DON'T GO HOME."
The panic in her voice made his blood run cold.
Anthony stood so abruptly his chair crashed backward.
Daisy immediately rose too.
"What happened?"
He held up a finger.
Listening.
Focusing.
Every instinct screaming danger.
"Martha."
His voice became deadly calm.
"What happened?"
On the other end of the line, Martha sounded terrified.
Not worried.
Not nervous.
Terrified.
"They broke into my apartment."
Anthony froze.
The world seemed to stop.
Daisy's face immediately paled.
Because she could hear enough to understand.

"Are you safe?"
