  THE PROPOSAL   Anthony Green had negotiated billion-dollar contracts.   He had stood before investors.   Faced hostile takeovers.   Testified in court.   Confronted the man who stole fifteen years of his life.   None of those experiences prepared him for asking one woman to marry him.   "You look sick."   Anthony glared at his grandfather.   The old man looked entirely too amused.   "I am not sick."   "You've checked that ring box twelve times."   Anthony immediately checked it again.   His grandfather burst out laughing.   "Thirteen."   Wonderful.   Absolutely wonderful.   The proposal was planned for Saturday.   A beautiful afternoon.   A family picnic.   Simple.   Meaningful.   Perfect.   At least that had been the original plan.   Then Damien discovered it.
