I thought returning home with Mei would make all the things I’ve been feeling go away but I guess I was wrong. Mei has settled back in far better than I expected and instead it’s me who is still constantly on edge. When she’s not near me all I feel is panic that something bad is going to happen. All I do is monitor her through our link day in and day out and even I know that’s not healthy. Even now, I’m standing at the back of the packhouse watching Mei like a hawk and all she’s doing is having a picnic with Evalyn. They’re close to the packhouse, getting to her would be no easy feat, and yet I’m terrified to turn away, paranoid that the second I do someone, or something will swoop in and take her from me again.
