I slide into the chair.
Ryan stares at me, a soft smile on his face. He glances at Jade and then back at me again. “John, we won’t stop you from dating Gen, but we’re going to advise against it.”
I exhale. “I’ll do anything to make you more sure of me—”
Jade grabs my hand and shakes her head. “It’s not you, John.”
My eyes widen as my jaw drops. “What?”
Ryan gives me a sad smile. “I’m afraid Gen will break your heart.”
