October, with all the joys and sorrows of autumn, has descended upon Southern Ontario. Bessie rides her bicycle along the rural road to Jason’s house, her backpack of schoolwork tucked in her carrier. It turns out Mrs. Wallet – who has asked her to call her Jane – is quite the taskmaster, to the delight of Bessie’s parents and her school principal.
