It was hard not to go after her and just keep her here with me. Rhea is the type of girl that every guy would need to have her and now that I have her, I consider myself as the luckiest man alive.
Jumping back into working on Sophia's paperwork, my office door opens and shuts. Everyone that works for me knows not to walk into my office without knocking. So, knowing that I know someone who works for me and doesnt listen to whatever I say to save his life, I look up and sure enough, it's him. My crazy brother.
"What do you want? I'm busy,'' I said as he slumped into the leather couch that's in front of my desk, sighed deeply, then placed his dirty feet on the arms of the expensive couch.
“Get your f*****g dirty feet off my couch."
"Whatever," Dima huffs, lighting up a cigarette.
"So, by looking at those things on the floor, I'm guessing that something good happened."
Shrugging, I dropped what I was doing to make my way to the couch beside him.
"Okay, so why are you really here, Dima?"
“Someone's going against us." He said as I stood up and walked over to the mini bar.
“You said this before, Dima,'' I said, pouring myself a glass. "Are you sure that you have proof this time?"
"Yep," He said, putting his feet down and standing up. "I was looking through your money stocks and they were off. And when i say off, i mean off by a thousand."
"Stop playing," I said as he handed me a folder. "What's in this?"
"What I'm talking about," He said, sitting down. "But the good news is that I found some of your guys that had to do with this."
"Okay, but did you find anything out from those betraying bastards?" I asked, getting pissed off.
"Nothing." He said, putting his feet back up.
"What do you mean nothing?"
"Exactly what I mean," He said. "I found nothing. They kept their mouths shut the whole time. The information died with them."
After hearing everything that Dima had just said, I ran my hand through my hair angrily. Turning to look at all the alcohol that I have, I think of who they could've possibly betrayed me to. I thought they were loyal to me because I gave them and their family everything that they needed and wanted but I guess it wasn't good enough. What were they offered that I couldn't give to them? I just got done dealing with one problem, and now it's this. My life in the mafia just seems to never stop but just go through a never ending cycle.
Drinking the rest of the drink down, I groan at the burn making its way down my chest. My brother can be of some help to me and my business, but sometimes he doesn't think before he acts before I do something. In this situation, I would've tortured them until they told me what I needed to know. I take my time with people that have crossed me. Including the ones that go behind my back and betray me.
"Look, I appreciate what you did, but we just finished up a problem, so we need to be more cautious about this new threat. Even more cautious than we were with the Russian mafia,"I said, calming down. "I have a feeling that whoever's doing this is someone that knows our every move."
"You're the boss," Dima nodded as he sat up in his seat. "But it smells great here. I'm assuming that the interviews were great."
"Yep," I chuckled, thinking about what Rhea and I did. "It was amazing actually."
"Who the f**k are you in love with now," Dima asked, standing to walk ove to the bar. "First it was Lisa, then she was killed. Then it was that w***e, Rhea and she left, breaking your hurt. So, who's this new girl?"
"She's not new." I said, causing him to look at me.
"Please tell me that it's not her, Enzo," He sighed. "Please, bro."
"She didn't know that I fell for her."
"I dont care what the f**k she didnt know. She hurt you and now you're just going to let her work here?"
"Not just that." I said as my phone buzzed from a text message.
"Oh hell no," Dima whines. "I swear. If she breaks your heart again, I'm killing the bitch."
"No the f**k youre not,"
Rhea: I made it home.
"If she hurts me again, I'll deal with her myself."
Me: Wishing I was there with you.
"Whatever, man." He said, pouring a glass of whiskey.
Rhea: What's stopping you?
Me: My brother. He's not happy with the fact that you came back.
Rhea: Then tell him to stop being a little baby and deal with it.
"Rhea said to stop being a little baby and deal with it."
"Tell her that she can kiss my ass."
"Come on,'' I said, changing the subject. "I told mom that we'll come over."
For some reason, Dima always hated Rhea. I never knew why but he did. Sophia on the other hand loved her. She loved her so much that she even wished that Rhea was her sister. When Rhea left, she just didn't hurt me. She also hurt Sophia. I don't even know if she'll ever forgive Rhea now that she's back.
Anyway, standing up, Dima and I both walk into the elevator together. Swiping the keycard, the elevator doors close and Dima pulls out another cigarette. He was about to light it but once he saw my stare, he instantly put it away. The guy smokes and never stops. It almost killed him at one time.
Walking out the building, one of my drivers brings my all black g- wagon to us. Because I was in the mood to drive, I jumped into the driver's seat. Once Dima climbed in, we were able to head over to mom's house.
From the office to mom's house was only a twenty minute drive. Now that she and Zack are going to be moving in with me, I decided to help her get her things over to my house. Well, when i say help, i mean having my men do them for me.
But besides that, from what I got from my mother when I last talked to her, Zack was out of town. Maybe because all he had went down with his son I'm guessing. When we get to the house, I instantly get this nasty feeling in my stomach when I see his car. Hoping that it's just one of them, I park in my usual spot, climb out, walk towards the car, and sure enough, Zack just happens to jump out.
"I thought that you were supposed to be out of town today." I said, as Dima followed behind me.
"Well, I just got back," He said, stopping me by putting his hand on my shoulder. "Is that a problem?"
"Um, Zack. If you want to see your hand again you better take your hand off my brother." Dima warned.
"What are you going to do if I don't?"
"It's not what I'm going to do. It's what he's going to do."
"I'm not scared of this boy," Zack said, pushing me. "Are we going to have a problem, Enzo?"
"I'm in a good mood today," I said, shaking myself off. "So, no."
"Good."
After dealing with whatever was wrong with Zack, Dima and I walked through the house on the cream coloured marble. Our heavy footsteps echoing through the quiet house, as my men straighten their backs and stand at attention. Turning the corner I stroll into the open living room, our family sitting on the white u-shaped couch, chatting. As soon as we enter the room, Dima starts acting like a kid and runs over to mom and lays on her lap. Also walking over to mom, I kissed the top of her head as she smiled before I took my seat on the couch, unbuttoning my suit jacket and groaning.
"Everything all right, love?"
"Yeah. Just a long day," I said as my Aunt Sarah hands me a weed blunt. "I have to drive."
"Laya, tell your son to take it before I put my gun to his head."
"Oh please, Sarah," mom said, running her fingers through Dima's hair. "You have no bullets in that gun of yours."
"Plus you're too high to do shit." I added as Zack walked in.
"Is everything ready?"
"I don't know. You'd have to ask the guys."
"Who's house is this?" Zack asked, standing in front of her.
“Yours, but-"
"There's no but. So, get your ass up and ask the guys if everything's ready."
"Okay," I said, standing and already pissed off. "Who the f**k are you talking to?"
"Who do you think," He asked. "Are you blind?"
"I sure hope I am because I see you talking s**t to my mother and I don't like that," I said, walking up to him. "So talk. What the f**k you’re doing."
"I thought we weren't going to have a problem." Zack said, pushing me.
