Chapter 29

“Stop, just stop it, stop saying that, mom isn’t gone, she can’t be, it’s just not possible” Adrian said, his tears streamed down all the more despite him trying to put on a brave face and control himself, but he knew the complications of the issue at hand. “Why didn’t any of you follow her? She followed me didn’t she, kept tabs on me from afar, why didn’t any of you do the same for her, I’m sure you all know she would do it for anyone of us, so why did no one do it for her?!” he yelled trying to hold back his tears of mixed emotions topped off with anger. “I’m sorry Adrian, but you know as well as we do that we have never left this place, not once since we have been brought here, we wouldn’t know the first thing to do or even where to go” Letty explained. Adrian looked like he wanted to argue on that point, he searched for something to counter Letty’s words, but he only discovered that she was actually right and expecting them to be able to do anything that involved leaving this place was actually inconsiderate. He remembered that despite the fact that he had even read up on maps and a lot of things that his mother hides from them, he still found it seriously difficult and disorienting when he got to the outside world beyond this place, he couldn’t possibly expect it from them who were obedient and didn’t do whatever mother told them not to do. Adrian detested his elder siblings for being such obedient and docile people, especially with their mother, once again though he found out he couldn’t blame them for being like that either, they were adopted after all, after being saved from a particular evil, the evil that has kept them here after all these years, far from civilization, far from other people, and totally off the grid. “Mother is strong, she is smart and powerful” Adrian said mainly to reassure himself, but all his siblings were nodding, “She can scale through anything the WIC might throw at her, she’ll be back you all will see” he said tearing down uncontrollably. On getting home, Adrian and Ryoka went inside the house while the siblings stayed out to rearrange the snatched up provisions into their store, which was big enough to host tons of refugees. The store was usually filled once in every three months by their mother who would go out and get provisions that the dragon family would need to survive another three months. But here now, with what the defiant duo had gathered they could go more months without needing to restock, plus, it started to look like a war effort thing, seeing all the weapons that came along as well, the siblings found themselves having mixed emotions, happiness and sadness together, if their mother was here now, maybe, just maybe she would start them up on a way to start fighting back. Christine found an expensive and exquisite coffee pack and took them inside to make some for the whole family, she served Adrian and Ryoka first, they were awfully quite and Adrian still had his head hung low but he wasn’t crying any longer. “She just can’t be gone, she is one of the strongest and most powerful that I know of” Adrian said in low tones as he kept reminiscing about the whole ordeal. “How many do you know?” Christine asked Adrian, who brought his head up on hearing her voice, then accepted the cup of coffee she stretched to him. “I’ve read through most of her works, her journals and diaries, while I haven’t met most of those she noted to be on our side, one thing was obvious from the books, she was really powerful and they always sought out her help, only one person did she herself ever look to for help, especially when it’s the matter of getting provisions here, and that is her brother” Adrian said and sipped his coffee, his expression after brought a chuckle to Christine’s mouth. “I know right, it’s a really good coffee” Christine said, Ryoka at that point sipped hers as well and could only agree with them both as the rich taste of the coffee swirled and caressed her tongue. “Uhm, Adrian” Ryoka started and paused even though she already had his attention as he focused his gaze on here, she didn’t know how he will take what she was about to say right then, but then she said it anyway. “My father had promised to meet up with us all these while, but he hasn’t been able to, I know him to be really powerful as well after experiencing him in his form once and then from Damien’s tales about him, I’m pretty sure he will be part of those your mother has mentioned, and from what you’ve experienced when you were caught, I’d say it’s a trend of the WIC not to kill their captives but experiment on them till they have achieved another sinister goal” Ryoka said and paused once again hoping Adrian was getting her drift. Ryoka knew he did from the expression on his face as his face started to light up as he became cognizant of her angle, he slowly nodded so she could continue what she was saying and get to the actual point that he more than suspected right now. “Well, I believe he has been caught as well, there is no other explanation for his prolonged absence, this could mean that both he and your mother are still being held somewhere and either being tortured to give up the whole operation or being experimented on, so let us change tactics and hit the WIC not in their warehouses and operations base anymore, but rather in their labs and detainment and holding facilities” Ryoka said. Christine almost spurted out the coffee in her mouth at the moment Ryoka finished that statement, “What?!” she asked in alarm. Adrian on the other hand had a wicked smirk on his face “You are so on point Ryoka, by doing that we might hit where our folks are being held, and if not we’ll still get to free up a lot of potential allies, while not all would join our efforts I’m sure some will, and all the while we’ll be carrying out our sole mission, hitting at the WIC hard!” he said in contentment, his face now remained bright, there was hope now, Ryoka was actually right about the WIC tactics of detainment rather than killing off, especially if it was powerful Eldrians or Dn mutants. “We’ll need everyone on board for this Christine, let them know so they’ll be here after the restocking the stores, I’ll go into mom’s study and bring out everything we might need that can help us on this new direction” Adrian said and Christine reluctantly agreed. Ryoka was more than pleased at this next stage of their plan, the best way to achieve the crippling of the WIC would have been their initial plan of hitting their supplies and provisions, making life hard for them, but then, freeing up their captives is the best way to gain allies in the enemy of my enemy fashion, and if they get enough allies to join their efforts against the WIC, they wouldn’t just cripple them, they might very well achieve putting an end to the WIC altogether. * The whole family gang was seated in a circle form, gentle Hugh seemed to be the eldest, followed by the beautiful but fierce Letty, then the hot and indifferent Han Soek, the super smart Jaime and the mischievous Javier seemed to be age mate and they really did tag together like twins, then the also smart and brilliant Christine came next in the order of age, by this time it was obvious to Ryoka that Adrian was the youngest amongst them all. “How can we do this and not jeopardize our safety, or get our safe haven compromised, I don’t think there can be anywhere safer for us like this place has been” Hugh asked, he was skeptical of the plan. “I don’t think our safety is priority right now Hugh” Letty voiced “We’ve lost Mom, we have to atone for that by searching for her by all means, quite right we have to make sure this place is not compromised, cos it’ll be the base of our operations for now, so even when we start freeing the captives, we can’t bring none here unless certified and trusted, this also means we’ll be needing other safe houses to use as different junctions of operations” she said with utmost sureness such that Ryoka only stared at her in awe. The siblings all seemed to have a conflict of interest, some like Letty were willing to go all out and do what us necessary, but others like Hugh are skeptical and would rather stay “safe” Ryoka couldn’t blame any of them, after all they had been living safe for most of their lives, asking them to do this was asking them to leave their comfort zone and give up all they had been brought up and trained with. “I have a proposition” Ryoka chipped in when there seemed to be no one else willing to say any other thing yet, “Why not let us have two groups, the first will be the operations and the second will be the support, the operations will handle all outside actions and activities, especially the attacks, while the support will handle well the support, supplies, medicals, and so on” she said to the siblings who were already in consent to the proposition. The group all discussed after agreeing to take this plan of action, thanks to Adrian, they were able to get into their mother’s study where they found tons of documents that would be helpful to their cause. First though, Ryoka and Adrian needed to get back to Damien, and give him the most that they can give him concerning the operation just for the main time.
