Emery's POV.
As I collected my luggage from the baggage claim terminal, I came out of the airport and began to look for a cab to take me to the pack.
I scanned the area, trying to find a cab but stopped when my eyes came across a white plaque that had my name “Emery Sanchez” written boldly on it.
Confused, I walked down to the man in a suit holding the plaque card and waved at him.
Hey," I waved awkwardly at him "I'm Emery. Did my mom send you?" I asked.
"Hello, Miss Emery, I'm Carlos. yes your mother sent me to pick you up"
"Oh," I smiled, glad that I didn't have to use my money to get a cab.
"Come on in, I'll take you to her," he said, took my bags from me, and turned, moving towards a Bentley.
I stopped just outside the car and glanced at the man in a suit. I had forgotten the name he'd given me.
"Um, are you sure I'm the Emery you are looking for?" I asked, wanting to be sure and he nodded as he closed the booth.
"Yes, Emery Sanchez. He brought out a picture of me."
"Oh, okay," I said, surprised at all of the luxury.
He opened the door and I got in, admiring the luxurious interior of the car.
I got comfortable and we drove out of the airport parking lot and onto the highway.
Twenty minutes later, we got to the pack house and I was astonished at how gorgeous and huge the place was.
It was large but somehow gated with gold-plated steel or was it pure gold? I couldn't tell.
My eyes feasted on the green as we drove through the gate and into the compound.
There were ornamental plants placed in strategic corners of the house to give color and structure to the place.
I had a feeling my mother had something to do with it. She was obsessed with flowers.
When she had told me she had gotten married, I had not been thinking of an Alpha or that she'd be living in a house half as luxurious as this.
"Emery!" My mother's voice sounded from the entrance of the mansion as she ran towards me.
She caught me in a bear hug and I chuckled at her show of affection.
"I have missed you so much, my love," she said in a sweet voice.
"Yes, the five thousand messages you sent me over the past three months gave me a little hint," I teased.
"Sarcastic as always," she rolled her eyes and kissed me on the forehead again.
"Oh, I'm so happy you are finally here!" She hugged me again.
"Me too Mom, I missed you too, by the way," I said and she smiled at that.
"Come on in, I have somewhere to take you." She said as she dragged me into the house.
The pack house interior was even ten times more luxurious than the exterior.
The foyer was practically made of gold and the walls were lined with paintings of wolves.
"Mom, just who the hell are you married to?" I asked when I entered the living room and the first thing I saw was a gold statue of a wolf.
"Well," she said with a cheeky smile, " His name is Alpha Logan and he is the Alpha of this pack. He's sweet and also rich.
“I'm not sure what to say," I looked around, taking in my surroundings. The living room was large, almost four times the normal size of a living room with a flat screen that took up the entire wall. There were two L-shaped couches arranged opposite each other and a single chair and a coffee table plated with gold in the middle.
"Don't say anything at least until you meet him." She said and dragged me towards the upstairs.
"Wear this!" She handed a beautiful indigo gown to me.
"Why?" I asked, staring at the gorgeous gown.
"I'm taking you out of course,"
"Where? To see the moon goddess? This is way too fancy, Mom." I said to her with furrowed brows. I was more of shirts and Jean girl and occasionally a skirt girl.
"Just wear it!"
She glared good-naturedly at me.
"Fine, fine," I sighed and did as she commanded.
I stared into the mirror twenty minutes later and gasped out how gorgeous I looked in the gown. It was a plunging neckline dress that stopped just around my ankle and it brought out my vivid blue eyes. It was decorated with rhinestones that made the dress look like midnight.
"You look fantastic!" My mom came in just then with a proud smile on her face.
"Thank you mom, so do you," I complimented, gesturing at her red dress. She always looked like a goddess in whatever she wore.
"Don't make me blush," she said and did a little twirl and I rolled my eyes at her.
"Come on, let's go," she said and I followed her down to the car.
Our car stopped in front of a huge field that had the words; welcome home Emery in a huge banner.
I glanced at my mom, wide eyed.
"You did this?" I asked, almost crying at the gesture.
"Not really, your stepfather did. He insisted on a party to welcome you to your new home."
I wanted to cry. I wasn't a fan of parties but this was the sweetest thing anyone has done for me in a long time.
My mother led me into the party and began to introduce me to people. Everyone was dressed in their finest attire and I noticed some of my high-school friends in the crowd.
They ran up to me to welcome me and we conversed.
As my mother went around introducing me to guests, my nose picked a scent, it was woodie and musky, mild and it hit me right in my head causing me to turn in search for who the werewolf was.
My heart palpitated and no felt Ciara my wolf become uneasy, she craved for the scent.
"You look so different," one of the girls I had gone to high school with said, her eyes shining.
"Yeah, you look gorgeous, college really did a number on you," the other one said in a tone I deduced to be laced with jealousy.
"Thanks," I feigned a smile as my eye frantically searched the halls for the person with such a sweet smell. I was getting anxious and thrilled. It felt like there was someone out there for me. Where on earth was it? I wondered as I pretended to listen to the three girls talking to me.
"Emery," my mother called out to me and I glanced back watching her walk towards me with a handsome man beside her. I'd never seen a more handsome man, his was almost two times my height, he not only looked strong, his muscles were strong and his face was well structured, small lips that nearly had a smile, his arched full brows, his eyes green and he stared icily at me . He had thick full back hair and I wanted to know how it felt. Silky? I gulped hard, this man was a walking angel.
"Hey mom, what's up?" I asked, my eyes turning to look at the man beside her again. His gaze was cold but the scent was more. I moved my eyes to search his face if he had any emotions that I could read but it was blank.
“Mate is here.” Ciara screamed at me, my eyes widened. He was the one with the scent, this man is my mate.
"I want to introduce you to someone important. Honey," she said to me and looked over at the man "This is Emery my daughter and Emery,” she looked over at me "This is Alpha Logan, the Alpha of this pack and my husband and your stepfather.”
My heart fell to my stomach and my eyes widened in shock. This man is my stepfather.
How then can my stepfather be my mate?
