The cool night air brushed in opposition to my pores and skin as I stepped into the shadows of the wooded area. I needed to depart. I couldn’t stay inside the p.C. Any longer, now, not whilst the danger of chance loomed over me. The battle had taken its toll, and I turned exhausted, but I knew there had been no turning lower back.
“Are you positive about this?” Lucy asked, her voice filled with subject as we made our way through the timber. “What if they find us?”
