Bonnie endured the Easter program but she did not record it. Only five days had passed where she didn’t hear Sam’s voice, and every one was agony. She made it through each hour of each day simply by reverting to muscle memory. She showered but couldn’t remember if she’d used conditioner on her hair. Drove to work but didn’t know if any of the stoplights she’d gone through had actually been green. Visited her mother but wasn’t sure what they talked about by the time she got home. She existed, the same way she had in the months following Jeff’s death. She knew this type of living wasn’t really living at all, but she couldn’t make her own heart stop.
