The mission

Flash back 7 years ago.

Annalesea's Pov.

"Come on you guys, can we pleasssseee go get some ice cream after this mission?? I feel like I've earned it, don't you??" I told them, giving my best pouted face. Usually it works, especially with how long I've known all of them.

"Look if we get this done fast and there are no unknown variables, then yes, we can get ice cream." Obi says with a long gruff sigh. I know he's only agreeing because he has a sweet tooth too. Yay like part of the foodie club, I love to call it that, just because we always have snacks we're munching on or want food.

"Come on, don't give in too easily, she'll take advantage of your sweet tooth or swindle you into paying for her ice cream." Sebastian says, eyeing me cautiously. I mean he's not wrong, but it's not like I'd get alot of ice cream though. I turned away, putting to myself and mumbled.

"That's not true....geez, I don't think I have that big of a sweet tooth." I turned around and started walking towards our mission, the reason why we're where we are in the first place. I'm actually kinda craving some boba right now. Geez, I need to cut down on food.

"You know that's not what we meant. Come on don't be upset... Help me out Thalia and Layla. You guys know what I meant," Bastain says with pleading eyes to both of the girls. I already know how this is going to play out. I snicker at them as Layla turns away from him, knowing if she keeps looking she'll give in. Thalia, on the other hand, looks like she's about to backhand him. Yikes, I wouldn't want to get in her way.

"Don't even try to involve us. You already know how this is going to end if we put our two cents in, especially when it comes to food with her. No, thank you, that is a fight I would not want to start. Unlike you, I have some common sense before I speak. Plus, we all know how delicate she is, don't we?" Thalia looks over at me waiting to get a rise out of me, she just lovesss to tease me.

"Alright, alright, that's enough. Did you guys already forget why exactly were out here breaking into a top secret building??" Vincent says with a stern expression on his face. Would it kill him to smile occasionally? He has such a dreamy smile, but it's like a once in a lifetime smile. You can catch even a small glance of him smiling. I groaned internally. Knowing he made a point, I mean Kallia assigned us this mission personally. We shouldn't be messing around.

"Good point, let's put the ice cream decision aside for right now and do what we came here for. Shall we??" Michael said, trying to brighten up the mood a bit.

We all decided to agree. As we're heading in, I'm getting my FN SCAR Rifle ready. I looked at everyone else and headed in through the automated back doors. Obi was able to disarm the security alarms in time before I triggered the sound. Looking left and right, I see it is clear. I signaled to Thalia, who was on my left, to go through the main corridor with Vincent and signal to Layla and Xzavian to head through the dining room, while Michael and I took the upstairs with two of Triplets following behind us. As we made it to the top of the stairs, their two halls went to our left and right. I signaled the two of the triplets to head right while Michael and I headed left.

“I can hear whispers coming from the door with a lock on it.” I whispered to Michael as quietly as I could. And start walking towards the door, making sure to be discreet.

“Are you ready?” Michael asked. “Remember Kallia wants us to make sure what we are retrieving is unharmed. So don’t get all trigger-happy with the bad guys, got it?” I know he’s saying it to f**k with me, but I still have some self-control, like damn.

“Yeah, yeah got it. Let’s go. I’ll let the team know before we head in.” I sigh, this is such a pain…. But I can’t wait to get it done. I wonder what we’re protecting.

“Beta, Delta and Gamma teams, we found the target. Up the stairs, to the left, the 3rd door to the right is where the target is. Mikey and I are going in. Check In your positions… Over.” Waiting for the teams to give in their positions to go, before we make our move.

“Delta Team checking in. On our way to you. Our position is in the basement along the corridor… Over”

“Beta Team checking in, coming to you right now. Our position is in the study and some sort of lab past the dining room… Over”

Gamma Team checking in, heading towards you now. Position up the stairs to the right in the 5th room to the left. Yo Cap. There's some creepy s**t in these rooms… Over.”

“Alright, we’ll talk about that later heading in now… Over.” Sometimes I really wonder what goes through their heads. But then again, this place definitely is not normal. I look towards Mikey to give him the go ahead. He kicks in the door, we charge forward, our weapons ready. As we walked in, nothing could have prepared me for what I saw that we were supposed to bring back unharmed to Kallia. I look over at Mikey to make sure I’m seeing what he’s seeing and not just hallucinating. We just stand there for a good minute looking at each other when the rest of the teams come barreling through the door.

“Why are you two just standing there looking at each other??” Xzander, one of the triplets, asks us, looking confused. Then I see his brother look around behind us, and he gets shell shocked too, as he looks back at us. I can already see him wanting to ask the questions that even we weren’t sure to ask yet…

“Soooo please tell me that’s not what I think we're supposed to retrieve for Lia??” Xzavier asks with a little bit of hope in his eyes that we’ll give him a different answer. Sadly, when he sees our nods, agreeing with him. He lets out a huge sigh.
