I reached out, grabbing for anything and everything. How could I be so foolish as to jump? How could I fall for Connar's handsome features? I fell further and further until I was sure my time was almost up. And then I hit the ground, and everything went dark. Well, not the ground, I guess. It felt more like arms. Soft arms, carrying me.
"You survived," Whispered a familiar voice. "Please survive." A few hours late I blinked and found myself staring into the caring eyes of Connar.
"You," I said with disgust. He only managed a pained smile.
"Me. I shouldn't have told you that, my precious. I was kidding."
"Precious?!" I asked, sitting up. I winced, but I refused to let him see the pain he had caused me.
"I said that I wouldn't love either of you until you fell off a sixty-foot cliff and survived. And you survived. So, I'm loving you."
"Well, too bad. I hate you now. Get out of my face!" I shoved Connar out of my face, and he managed a puppy dog whimper.
"Hate is such a strong word..." Connar mused.
"Oh, so you like despise better?" I asked, sarcasm filling my voice to the brim. Connar winced as if he were actually in pain.
"How about I like none of them better?" He asked, his voice hopeful.
Yeah right. I thought. You probably are glad that I'm sitting in this hospital bed. You probably licked up my blood like a vampire. I shook my head and managed to stand up, thought my head got fuzzy.
"Hate, hate, hate. Despise, despise, despise," I sang out, heading for the front lobby.
