Chapter Thirty-ThreeAlan was kneeling down beside Agnes when several members of the hotel staff rushed out. Sally had been straightening a cushion on the sofa nearest to the entrance, when she heard a loud noise. Believing it to be some kid setting off a firecracker, she looked towards the door, only to see Agnes drop to the ground. Quickly beckoning a couple of the hotel porters, she rushed outside, thinking the surprisingly loud bang had given Agnes such a shock she had lost her footing and fallen over. “Can I help?” Sally asked. “Yes! Everyone, get back inside and don't let anyone leave the building. Agnes has been shot!” Alan yelled, pulling out his phone.
