I woke up to an empty bed in my hotel suite in Dubai. It shouldn’t have surprised me though. After all, Sophia hadn’t slept here. Even though she’d agreed to share the suite with me last night, she had changed her mind at the last minute and had been swiftly relocated to another room. Not that I had expected her to crawl into bed with me at midnight but still… waking up alone left an odd feeling in my chest.
I exhaled slowly and raked a hand through my hair as I sat up. As I moved, the sheets were pooling around my waist. The morning sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and casted golden streaks across the polished floors and expensive furniture that was in the suite.
