CHAPTER NINE (THE ROYAL RUMBLE)

“Mother, do you have to pull me like this? Moreover, we can always talk tomorrow you know. I’m exhausted. At least allow me to get a little sleep.” Prince Aaron cried out in frustration as his mother pulled him like sheep to the s*******r house. “Mother, why aren’t you answering me? Mother.” He called out to her but she wouldn’t respond. Soon enough they both arrived at her Chamber. “Greetings, My Queen. Greetings, My Prince.” The servants greeted and curtsied in unison. “Leave us!! All of you!!” She said, very sternly and in a flash they all rushed out, cowering in fear. “Do well to shut the door on your way out.” She added. As soon as she was sure that they had all exited she turned to the Prince. “Have a sit.” She said, still wearing a very staid mien. Suddenly she began to pace back and forth. “Mother, is this how to treat your son after being away from him for two years? First you drag me here against my will and now you’re acting strange. What’s going on? You’re making me very anxious.” The Prince cried out. “We are at war, son, War, I tell you.” She finally responded as she continued to pace back and forth. Confused and agitated. “Mother, what are talking about? I’m not in the mood for your parables and riddles. If you won’t speak then I will be forced to walk out right this moment.” On hearing this she paused and turned him. “Is that a threat?” She asked, looking like a starved Lion waiting to pounce on its prey. “No mother, I would never. It’s just that I’m exhausted and all this is frustrating me.” He said with a calmer tone. “Then leave, no one is stopping you. The door is right there, isn’t it?” She said with an absurd smile. “Okay then, I’ll retire to my chamber, now.” He said and got up and headed for the door. Just as he was about to grabbed the door, she interrupted him. “If you walk out of that door, you can also forget about becoming the next King of Orion and ruler of the Imperium.” She said subtly. Suddenly, his face froze like he had just seen a ghost. He tried words but all words in the world seemed to have eluded his mouth. “What happened? Cat got your tongue?” She asked jeeringly, but he still kept mute.
