Chapter 13

She decided to get food on her home since dinner with 

her fiance was cancelled, she bought her favorite local 

meal Amala and abula. 

Kemi! are you home? She shouted as she opened the 

front door, no reply, I guess she isn't I'm so famished, 

she said to herself, she washed her hands in the 

kitchen sink and was about to eat when a call came in, 

it was Xavier's mom.

Good evening ma, how are you doing? I'm good 

darling how's work, very fine how's Dad too? 

He's very fine my son told me you guys are getting 

married, her heart skipped a little, yes ma, I'm so 

excited can you come over for dinner tomorrow? 

Of course, we have a lot to discuss, make sure Xavier 

brings you, alright ma do have a good night, she said,

you too, my regards to Dad, alright my dear.

She dialed Xavier's number, hey babe, she said, I was 

just about to call you I'm sorry about tonight, I said 

it's alright by the way your mom just called, she said 

we should have dinner with them tomorrow, she 

told me but I told her I'm not sure, we have to go I 

think it has to do with the wedding so we have no 

choice, okay I'll pick you up tomorrow how was your 

day? Stressful as usual, she giggled, well I made 

some adjustments in the shop today, what adjustment?

I made Blessing my PA, I wanted to know who wants 

to work for me so I gave some instructions, what's the 

plan? I want my store to be more organized most of 

them are partially using me and I still pay them, I'm 

totally lost, explain better, babe you might not 

understand some of them came to learn from me, 

they paid to learn and that expired months ago, they 

told me they want to work for me I trained them I 

was glad they want to work for me but they aren't that 

good yet and there are some outfits they can't make, 

I employed them cause I trained them and I know 

they'll improve with time but recently I realised I've  

been stupid, I'm actually paying them to learn from 

me, do now you understand? yes I think I do, from 

now on if you can't work for me you either pay to 

learn or leave.

I respect your decision do what you think is best, he 

said, how was work today? don't ask me, he laughed, I 

didn't do anything today I cancelled all my meetings, 

why? I couldn't stop thinking about you, don't 

patronize me, I'm serious hon I was really distracted 

and i wanted to reminisce, hope you had fun doing 

that, she giggled.

I need a break from work, he said, so do i, have you 

had dinner? he asked, about to it's cold already, I'll put 

it in the microwave, alright babe let me leave you to 

eat, I wanted to come over but I'm really tired, it's 

alright baby we should talk before I sleep,okay bye, I 

love you, I love you too, he replied. 

She put the food in a microwave and headed upstairs 

to change her clothes, she heard noises.

Kemi! Are you home? She moved closer to Kemi's 

room to check where the noise is coming from, what 

the hell, she giggled when she found out it her friend's 

moan and some random guy's groan, she went to her 

room, changes her clothes and went back to kitchen to 

eat.

She sat in the living room watching movie, when did 

you get back? Kemi said startling her, I got back a 

while ago, who's that gentleman? no he's not a 

gentleman, Sewa said laughing and shaking her head, 

its a long story I'll tell you when he leaves, I can't wait 

to hear it, she giggled, call me when he's leaves I'm 

going to my room.

Sewa, she said knocking the door to her room, come 

in, you don't have to knock, she giggled, I thought you 

slept and I didn't want to disturb, I'm about to though, 

so tell me who's that guy? He's a photographer I met 

him today, oh wow you met him today? Our eyes met 

so many times during the shoot he's so gorgeous, after 

the shoot we spoke and bonded and here we are, is it a 

one night stand? I really don't know, I just needed to 

get laid, but I don't mind if he calls me tomorrow, just 

be careful babe, I'm careful have you had dinner? Yes, 

I bought you dinner it's in the kitchen but it's cold, 

thank you, you're welcome, I'm going bed get out, she 

said jokingly, good night. 

She turned right, left and right again, she couldn't 

the right sleeping position, she picked her phone to 

call her fiance.

Hey babe, did I wake you? Not at all why aren't you 

sleeping? I don't know why I can't sleep, is there 

something bothering? you can talk to me, no nothing 

maybe there is but I don't know what it is, by the way 

I'll like to change interior of the house since we'll be 

living together it's ours now, you don't like the 

interior? 

I do but it's not my taste, there's an empty room 

around the corner down the hallway, it looks haunted, 

she laughed, I don't mind turning it into a closet what 

do you think? Did you enter the room, of course I did 

and it was empty, I can change the interior of the 

room add a little life to it but it out of reach,Xavuer 

said, why Xav? It's just a room, are you saying I won't 

be able to make some decisions in our home, don't get 

me wrong Sewa I want the room to be like that, the 

room is special to me, special to you? Yet you couldn't 

decorate it, it's my decision Sewa, you just denied me  

assess to where we're going to call our home, you can 

change all you want, the interior, the bed, everything, 

just leave the room, okay I've heard you but make it 

look good, it's looks haunted, I will, is there something 

you're not saying about this room? No.....nothing, he 

stammered, why is it special to you? What happened 

in that room, why is there no life there not even a 

decor or bed? You ask to many questions, I'm going to

asked, going through some files i brought from the 

office, I'm I interrupting? You know work can wait 

when it comes to you, okay, she giggled, do you need 

me to sing you a lullaby, he giggled, I'm good, I should 

sleep now, you can call me again if you can't sleep I'll 

still be up, alright babe good night, she said, good

She got up, went to the kitchen to get a glass of water, 

she heard a knock on the door, she looked at the wall 

clock in the kitchen it was some minutes past 12, it's 

prolly Kemi's guy did he forget something, she 

whispered to herself, the person knocked again, this 

time harder, for the person to get here he or she 

knows the gate keeper or a familiar face, let me check 

who it is, she said walking towards the front door, she 

peeped through the peephole, Tolani? She unlocked 

the door.

What are you doing here by this time? what's going 

on? Did something happen to mom? calm down mom 

is fine, I needed a place to crash and your place is 

closer, closer to where? where are you coming from? I 

need to sleep sis, I'll explain tomorrow, where do you 

think you're going, sit your a*s down and tell me 

what's wrong, I'm sure you don't want me to call 

mom, why are you so dressed up? where are you 

coming from? let me see your face, I've you been

I at least change my dress and have a shower, okay

I'm terrified, she said laying her head on a pillow on 

the bed I don't know where to start from, I met a guy 

few days ago I saw him at the mall, then at the eatery, 

he came to meet me he started a conversation, we 

were flowing, we exchanged numbers, he was really 

nice he asked me to dinner the next day, I agreed, 

after dinner he dropped me off at my friends place, 

I've been at my friends place for a while now mom 

and I fought I needed my space so I moved out for a 

while, why am I just hearing this? I didn't want to 

bother you, you know how mom can be, she wants to 

control me and that's not possible, back to my story.

After that day, he calls me everytime, he asked us to 

see today, he said he was going to pick me up, I didn't 

know where we were going I just got in the car like a 

fool, he picked me by 5 we went to a very nice 

eatery I can't remember the name from there we 

went to a place he called his apartment, it was okay 

but it doesn't feel like his apartment, he wasn't free I 

know how I act when I'm in my house that's how I 

knew something might be off, he offered me a drink I 

didn't drink it but I pretended to, I acted like I dozed 

off he thought I slept, then I heard him talking on the 

phone he was like I have someone new sir, she's 

really pretty I drugged her already, should I kill her 

now or wait for you to see her, I don't know what the 

person said I just knew I was doomed, thank God I 

came in last so the door wasn't locked, he left the 

living room, I didn't know where he went to but he 

went upstairs I guess to get the things to kill me, I got 

up fearfully and out of the house, I didn't know where 

we were, it was on the main land, I got an uber and 

here I am, the traffic was mad should I've been here 

earlier, I could've been dead by now Sewa what was I 

thinking.

I'm so sorry, Sewa said hugging her sister, it 

could've only been God, I'm glad you're okay, we're 

going to the police station tomorrow to report this, no 

sis, let it slide I learnt my lesson already, not for you 

Tola, for other girls that might fall victim for this, I 

still don't want to report yet, let me get over it first, 

alright, you know I love you and I'll do anything to 

protect you, I could've died today and nobody will 

know, she said crying, stop crying, all you need to do 

is to thank God for protecting you and never try that 

again, please don't tell mom, I won't but please be 

careful, be extra careful next time go to bed, by 

tomorrow you should feel better, I can't sleep, come 

let me cuddle you to sleep, she threw her arm around 

her waist and kissed her forehead.
