Laurain didn't wanted to involve him with her anymore. His life will be in danger as long as he stayed with her. Also she only considered him as a friend.
They had to get divorced one day or another so why not now.
When tom heard her he stilled.
There was complete silence neither of them said anything.
He was thinking of beginning a new life with her. For him she was a simple girl who he came to like in a short span of two weeks. He really didn't wanted to leave her. He was caught of guard with her sudden decision for divorce. He thought that she was trying to build a relationship with him as she made breakfast, lunch and dinner for him, waited for him so they could eat together. But how wrong he was. He suddenly felt lonely thinking that she will not be home when he returns from office.
"Where did this sudden divorce topic come from." He asked with a light sad chuckle.
"It had to come...sooner or later.....We should have divorced long
ago." She said as a matter of fact.
He took a deep breath controlling his emotions. He was really feeling forlorn. She couldn't see his love.
"Why do you want a divorce?" He wanted to know the reason why she wanted to leave him.
Laurain couldn't tell him that he could die any moment if he stayed with her. He was a normal men not like her who doesn't even know if she will be alive tomorrow or not.
His life was simple and peaceful away from the bloodshed and cruel world which she was a part of. She in anyway doesn't want to destroy his normal life. She can't pull him in the darkness which she is a part of, not a part but she herself is the darkness, of whom the world is scared of.
"D..do.. you love...someone?" He asked. He wished that was not the case.
When laurain heard him a certain brown eyed men's face came in her mind. After years of being apart it felt good to see him. A big burden was lifted from her shoulders as she saw him. She was happy that he hadn't died. The thought that he died for saving her kept bugging her for the past five years which burdened her mind and soul just like the death of her family members whose burden she has been carrying for the past sixteen years and will continue to do so until her death.
This burden has been suffocating her internally, its like a slow poison killing her every moment. Because of which she turned into something she never wanted to be. Not once she felt peaceful. The void in her heart hurt her so painfully at times that she wanted to die. She wanted to strangle herself with her own hands.
Those demons never left her and she doesn't want him to become a prey to her demons. She never wanted people to know her real self heck she doesn't know her own self.
The lights went out and the whole apartment was now covered in darkness.
Laurain wore a dark blue long coat with simple wedges. Her both hands holding her bag infront.
Tom wore simple pajamas with a comfortable t-shirt.
Both of them kept looking at eachother.
Tom kept staring at her emotionless face. She didn't answer his questions. Her face was expression less, and looking at her in the moon light coming from the window she looked so cold and detached. He wanted to go and hug her, console her and give her the warmth which she lacked so much but at the same time she didn't looked like she welcomed anyone near her and it scared him a little.
Her blank eyes scared him.
It was the first time he felt a little oppressed by her. She looked like an innocent girl but at the same time also like a ferocious animal.
"I need to go" her detached voice echoed in the lounge.
"Where?" He asked softly.
"Far away" she herself was not sure how far she had to go.
"I get it." He said after a while his voice depicting his sorrow.
Laurain gave him a glance nodded at him and went to her room.
He closed his eyes as she passed by him. A sad smile came on his face as he stood there.
The next morning Laurain came out of her room and was ready to go to the base. Tom didn't came out of his room to check on her this time. She looked at his room door for a while. He was sad and she knew it. There was a comfortable and peaceful feeling whenever she came here thats why she stayed here but all of it was gone nuow and replaced with a cold feeling. His despaired face from last night came in her mind.
Tom was awake but didn't came to see her this time. He heard her opening the door of her room. She might be going somewhere again. He put his hand on the door handle wanting to go and see her. He didn't heard the main door closing, she might have not left.
He opened the door and came face to face with her.
He was not expecting to see her infront of his room.
Laurain was also not expecting that he would open the door. She thought he was sleeping.
They just stared at eachother trying to figure out eachother.
She wanted to know why he was sad and he wanted to see if she liked him just a little.
"I.."
"I.."
Both of them started together.
"I thought you were sleeping."
"I..overslept a little." He lied. He was awake for more then an hour now.
"Hmhm, you...should take care of yourself." She nodded.
"I'll be going now." Laurain turned to go towards the main door.
"Where?" He immediately asked thinking that she was leaving now.
"To work." She replied turning back a little. She give him small smile which he would have missed if he hadn't spent some time with her.
She was like this. He hadn't seen her smile properly for once.
A sudden thought clicked in his mind and he immediately looked in her direction but she was already gone.
He doesn't know a single thing about her.
Laurain went to the warehouse. She had to take a look at the cctv footage of that day. She wanted to make sure what she saw was real and not her illusion.
There was a very disturbing thought lingering in her mind. His presence on the day of accident was very mysterious. At the same place at the same time standing just behind tom. The conclusion she was drawing was like a sharp knife hanging on her head.
Robert was a sly cheap man, she knew it. But if...if..by chance.. he...
Ace barged in her office breaking her train of thoughts. He immediately connected the USB to the Laurain's laptop and went to sit on the long comfortable black sofa.
"Bring it her" she ordered him strictly.
But Ace being Ace didn't heed to her order.
"Sis come lets watch the show together." He said as he opened KitKat and began eating it.
Laurain sighed and went to sit next to him. She snatched the laptop from him glaring at him as he continued to eat his chocolate.
Both of their concentration was on the laptop now. Laurain played the video and she could see as tom attended his friends call and after a while a men dressed in black came and stood just behind him even though there was enough place to stand beside him.
She was totally focused on the video.
Ace extended his hand holding a piece of chocolate towards her mouth slowly still looking at the video. He grazed the chocolate on her lips and she opened her mouth taking the whole piece in her mouth.
They used to feed eachother when they were young. Mostly Laurain was the one to make him eat his food and he was the little adorable monster in the house.
But one thing was, she hated KitKat.
But because she was busy at the moment she didn't payed attention to what was going in her mouth by that 'lizards' hand.
Back to the footage, David stood just behind tom and he also turned towards the camera as if he knew she was going to watch it.
When laurain pushed tom out of the way he intentionally came in her sight causing her to get hit by the car.
She looked as she crashed with the car and he just watched after she fell down covered in blood. He turned around and walked away. He called someone as he walked away from the scene.
Laurain closed her eyes frustrated, angered. That bastard wants to play with her. Laurain was no i***t to not know his s******c side. He will surely pay for it.
Suddenly the office door burst open as the one of her men came in panting heavily.
"Bo..boss....they got the mayors daughter."
