Chapter 28

603 Words
Before I had a chance to turn to see who was in the room with us, Leslie began frantically pushing me away while simultaneously grabbing the comforter to cover herself. “It’s not what you think!” She cried out wildly. I dreaded turning around. I knew without a shadow of a doubt it was going to be her husband. I closed my eyes tightly. I knew this was a bad idea coming to her house. What was I thinking? I slowly slid myself off of the bed and onto the floor so that I was no longer in view. Not knowing what to do, I lay my face down. The cold wood of the floor sent goosebumps all over me within a matter of seconds. I felt sick. My stomach churned threatening to release the contents of this mornings breakfast. There was a rustling sound as Leslie pulled the rest of the comforter up around herself. I heard the bed creak as she stood up. I listened for the other person to say something but there was nothing but silence other than Leslie’s movement. I felt like a fool laying in the floor but I didn’t want to be seen by the unknown person. Slowly I slid myself around until my head was at the foot of the bed. As quietly as I could, I leaned around the side of the bed to see if I could see the other person. My heart pounded so loud in my chest I was sure it would either burst through or they would hear it. “Well don’t just stand there! Say something!” Leslie pleaded. She sounded absolutely horrified. I couldn’t see the other person because by this time, Leslie had made her was over and the fluff of the comforter was blocking my view. She must have forgotten all about me because she hadn’t made any type of effort to speak to me or get my attention in any way since she pushed me off of her. This was bad. Very bad. I didn’t know if her marriage was about to be broken up because of me or if her husband would look the other way. I slid back out of view and laid my head back down on the floor. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. No matter what was going on, I knew I couldn’t stay there. My body was covered with goosebumps and they seemed to be sprouting their own goosebumps at this point. The floor was cold but also it was beginning to hurt me from laying on it. Slowly I eased myself up, wishing that I could make myself invisible. Avoiding looking at the door, I covered myself with my arms in an attempt to be less naked and looked around the floor for my clothes. It took less than a minute before realization smacked me right in the face. Inwardly I groaned as I remembered that we had taken our clothes off in the bathroom right before our shower. Once again I tried to make myself small as I slowly edged my way to the door. I knew there would be no way to avoid her husband on my way out. My body flushed crimson as the reality of the situation hit me full on. He not only caught us in the act but was going to see me naked up close and center. Keeping my eyes glued to the floor, I slowly pushed past Leslie and I was about to make my way out the door when a hand blocked me. “Where do you think you’re going?”
