“Why oh why me?? Twice in a day? Are you stalking me or something??” I ask him without even turning around and I say this in a bored tone.
“Oh baby. You wish I was stalking you.” He pats my head fondly.
I scowl at him and swat his hand away.
What is with him touching me?? We use to engage verbally and not touch each other and this is new territory right now.
“You can sit here obviously.” Haley beams practically bouncing on the pad of her feet.
“Why don’t you make yourself at home.” I comment under my breath as he spreads his food on the table and settles beside me like he belongs there. Kim is just watching the entire interaction with wide eyes.
“Why are you here sitting with us?? I don’t want you to go away or anything because except for the weird love hate thing going on between you and my girl Elsa here you don’t talk to you us and you definitely do not sit with us so what gives ??” She asks.
One of the reasons why I like Haley as a friend is that she always faces things head on and she is almost never scared. I say almost because there was this one time when we went on a joyride took a different route and got stranded late at night. She was so terrified that she wrote her death note. She called it death note because it will be found on her if she died out there.
i know how things work in this school. i look around and sure enough people are staring at us. They have left all the thing they are doing and they are staring at us. Because he is sitting with us and it is strange. we are not friends. come to think of is we have never really been friends except you count that one stint in middle school. i can actually say that we tried to be friends but his evil nature made it that i didn’t like him in the least and he made me angry all the time with pulling on my braids and trying to make me eat insects . The little weirdo.
He is staring at me right now with a weird ass smile on his face and i am here wondering why he is been here. if it is one of his weird little games he should know that i am not here to play with him at all. i just don't have the strength for it.
"Okay....this is weird. But seriously, what are you doing sitting with us? You never sit with us." Kim says.
I smile at her. She took the words right out of my mouth. he never sits with us. instead he passes as he normally ruffles my hair aggressively or make snide comments that secretly irks me but i pretend they don't because I rather suffer with a smile on my face than give him the satisfaction that he gets to me.
What so I can’t sit over here with you guys? My best people?” He teases.
“Erhmmmmmm, we are definitely not your best people. We never hang out or anything and we do
not eat lunch together so it does not count.” Tracy says again.
“Yeah right. I am here because of my close friend here Elsa.” He pats my head again
and this time I just throw him my meanest glare. He acts like such a child.
He just grins at me.
“What is so funny jerk? If you touch my hair one more time I swear!!” I threaten
him.
He grins even wider. The jerk is enjoying this.
“Oh hey man. Where did you go?” Someone says behind us.
I turn to watch his friends make their way to the table and one by one settle in
beside us. I watch this with bland eyes. Just freaking great. He brought the
whole pack with him.
“Nice spot. Why don’t we ever sit here?” His friend that I know as Levi says.
I know the reason why, they all sit together with the cheerleaders at their own table at the far end of the cafeteria. That’s the hotspot because it has all these girls and then they can get all rowdy with anyone checking them.
“Maybe because you like sitting over there with the cheer team.” Haley says pointing in the direction of the deserted table full with pouty girls. I wonder how many minutes it will take them to grab their trays and walk over here. It just the natural thing for them to do, follow the captains of the basketball and rugby team like flies.
Who ever made the rule that all sport teams need to be attached by the hip needs to answer for his crime. Even in the hallways they walk around in groups, being loud and making unfunny nasty jokes.
“What’s your name again?” Cole, the bald one asks looking pointedly at Kim, everyone follows his eyes and now Kim has about seven pairs of eyes on her.
Her eyes widen, her hand reach up to her hair and nervously tucks a stray hair behind her ear.
Whispering her name softly, “Kimberly Hanson, Kim for short.” She says her eyes stuck on Cole’s dreamy motcha brown eyes.
