Chapter 12

LUNCH THE NEXT DAY

“Jezzzzz! You’ve brought your whole park of wolves here.” I smile snarkily at him.

“You know sometimes I wonder if under all that ice there is a sould somewhere in there?!” He smiles.

“This is just the first day you guys are already going for each other necks.” Levi says.

Levi Jacobs says. With his dark hair and bright eyes he is one of those guys I stay clear of. Not because I am scared of him or anything but I know he just likes causing trouble. From the swirling blue depths he is worse than Hades too. I wonder why the ladies have a thing for the jerks. I mean come on, they treat women like crap, they always have a new girl hanging on to their every word and looking up to them like they are the stars in the goddamn sky and these boys lap it up.

They are even on the rugby team of Hale high and they soak up all the praise and affection of the entire school populace. Well hit me though. I don’t like the way they treat girls and I’ll rather lick the bathroom floors than go out on a date with anyone of them or even worse sleep with anyone of them.

“No one talked to you Leviticus.” I give him a bored look.

“I thought I told you to stop calling me that.” He growls at me. He might sound mad but I know better. By the playful tilt in his voice something tells me he thinks I am funny or cute. His frown turns into a sly grin and he winks at me which I ignore.

I swallow a sigh. This is not how I saw my first day back in high school going. Not here sitting with people I don’t like, a guy that is the bane of my existence,

Haley seems to be having the time of her life and Kim is just sitting there looking delicate and awkward. I watch Cole the bald one that is sitting beside her push food from his plate into her plate and push her plate closer to her so she doesn’t have to reach so far to pick up her food. I watch in surprise as he stands up without anyone noticing, he walks to the food server and picks up another box of apple juice and drops it into her tray.

She looks at him surprised but i know she’s too shy and shocked to say anything but she does something too. She digs into her bag and pulls out a ziplock bag of cookies and dumps it on his lap.

I continue watching their exchange in fascination when we get interrupted again.

I thought the day couldn’t get any worse. Well I was wrong. It just did.

“Hi, I didn’t know we were sitting here today.” Emily says from behind me.

not today again...why me???

“That’s because you weren’t invited to sit with us.” Levi says with a smirk.

“Oh don’t be silly.” She says giggling.

“There’s no space here anyways.” Cole who had his tongue stuck down a little blonde’s throat since when he got here says pointedly. He makes a show of dumping his backpack On the last available chair.

“Okay. That’s fine. I’m just going to....” she looks around and snatches an empty seat from the next table.

“Here. Can you move over Hades hunny?!” She asks Hades who is busy typing away on his phone and has not even paid her any attention since she came here. Not even a glance.

I think he is going to ignore her or something but she asks this question again. This time louder.

He drags his chair closer to me to the point where we are pressed against each other and I can feel his arm against mine. It sends a trill down my spine.

“Thank you baby.” She says sweetly as she sits.

“Hey girls. You guys can come over here.” She waves to her two minions who hop over with their trays.

“Hey Em, this is your tray. They didn’t have the lemon dressing so I got it without the fish or anything I knew wouldn’t any extra carbs.” Emma says.

Sometimes I wonder how girls can be so pretty and so dumb sometimes. Emma is so gorgeous and she doesn’t even have to try hard. With her long strawberry blonde hair and her bright green eyes she’s a stunning sight. Her body is so hot too and she enunciates it with her short and tight clothes. Although sometimes I wonder why she hangs out with these other girls.

“I didn’t know we were sitting here now.” She says looking at us with distaste. I guess this is not completely her type of crowd.

“Oh just have your sit guys.” Emily says sweetly and Emma dumps her ass on Levi’s lap. He looks like he doesn’t want her there but before he can push her off she leans down and his eyes get fixated on her pressed up boobs and the words get caught in his throat. He is just like any normal guy who is easily swayed by the body of a hot girl.

I swallow a snigger.

“Hades love. Are you going to finish all that?” Emily asks Hades as she points at the fries on his plate.

“Yes.” He says.

“But.... I don’t think you can finish all of that.” She whines.

Well, she’s wrong. They are boys and they play sports and with all that muscle they need something, lots of food and sustenance. My bet is this fries cannot be enough even for a couple of hours.

“If you wanted fries you should have gotten some for yourself don’t you think?” He stays.

“But you always give me your extra fries.” She complains again reaching for his plate.

He moves it out of her way when she tries to grab some and scoots his chair even closer to me if that’s even possible.

“Wow. So it’s really like that now?” She whispers hurt.

He doesn’t even answer her.

Their bickering doesn’t go unnoticed by everyone on the table but no one says anything and everyone just go back to bickering.

Emma is giggling as she’s still perched on Levi’s thighs. She wiggles and he groans. Cole and Kim are still stuck in this weird thing they are doing with him force feeding her and I can still feel Hades pressed against me. I am doing a good job of pretending that having him so close is not distracting.

“Okay. I have to head to class. It was lovely seeing all of you.” I say smiling at everyone.

Hades sniggers under his breathe

Haley frowns and Lucian smiles at the sarcastic statement.

“Kim, are you ready to go?” I ask her. looking back and forth between Cole and Kim. She blushes red to her roots, pushing her leftover pizza slice.

“Yeah. I’m done.” She says.

“Haley??” I ask her.

“Nah. I’m going to stay a bit longer. I have PE anyways.” She says.

“Okay then. Text me later. See ya.” I tell her as I wait for Kim to grab her bag and hurry to me.

“Bye princess.” Hades says.

I ignore him completely and walk to the door with Kim by my side.

“Well that was unexpected.” I tell Kim and she giggles.

“I know right. This is just the first day and this happens. Do you think they’ll want to sit with us always now??” She asks with her big wide eyes.

“I don’t know. I sincerely hope not. What was up with Lucien giving you food?” I ask her.

“I don’t know...” she blushes again.

“Okay.....” I laugh.

Cole is built like a machine, I don’t know anything much about him other than he has been friends with Hades for so long. He is also in the basketball team. He looks like a fashion model and a mountain man. He barely ever speaks and his cool and calm disposition is what keeps him a mystery.

One would think the girls of this school will leave him alone because it is clear that he wants to be left alone but the reverse is the matter here. The flock around him like a moth to a flame. They all believe they can tame the beast. The only time we have come in proximity with each other is when my mum works with his mum. We avoid each other really.

"I have Latin right now.” Kim says holding both our schedules side by side.

“Yes. I think the class is over there.” I point ahead of us.

We hurry to the class as the bell goes off again.

Thankfully, our classes are right beside each other.

This time I am relieved that Hades is not in my class. He has been everywhere I have been at today and at this point I am done and well over it. It is like he is doing it intentionally. I don’t want to sound conceited but what of if he is following me or something and even if he is why? What is he up to??

I sit down, grabbing my notepad and pen hoping to take notes but throughout the class the thought of him slips into my mind and i find myself thinking of swirling grey eyes and that arrogant smirk.
