Chapter 16They stopped in at the guard barracks, because Jer had wanted to try one more time to speak to his captain, to explain about potential disloyalty in the ranks and hope that Captain Tremaine would take some sort of action. One or two guards were around, but not many, this early; they waved at Jer, who waved back, friendly but not pausing.
