Adrian tried to be quiet as he came in, he didn’t want to wake her if she was resting but he turned after closing the door to find her awake sitting up eating some hospital jello. A pretty young girl with subtly tanned flawless skin and long straight blonde hair. She smiled and waved to him with her bandaged hand. “Hello Ms. Newhart, how are you feeling?” He was genuinely concerned. If she was bandaged up she either had to be badly injured or to young that she hadn’t shifted yet to get the benefits of increased healing.

“I’m fine Sir, thank you, they told me you were the one that took me to the hospital after the incident. I hope my brother didn’t cause to much trouble for you.” Celeste smiled and gestured to the chair in the corner for him to sit. She looked quite young but the way she spoke was very mature.

“Nothing we aren’t prepared for, don’t you worry about it.” Adrian shook his head lightly, not wanting her to concern herself with the politics of it all.

“I appreciate your attempt to shelter me from the madness surrounding the political state of our little community, but I would like something to report back to my father other than the state of his favorite car.” Celeste kept her eyes fixed on Adrian, a soft gaze with a very sharp attention behind it.

Adrian’s mouth was slightly agape as he stared at her. He blinked a few times and shook the shock out of his eyes. “If I may be so bold as to ask Ms. Newhart, how old are you? Please do not think me ignorant of your station, I just don’t like to burden the youth with the problems facing us if I can avoid it.”

“A valid and noble concern, though hard to achieve with the current state of things I’d imagine.” Celeste’s glaze floated toward the window as she spoke, seeming to approve of Adrian’s reaction and response to her. “I assume you ask due to my young appearance and lack of rapid healing?” Adrian nodded in response. “Seeing as you will simply find out from your medical staff anyway I suppose telling you can at least serve to speed up the process. I am 19 years old, by our standards fully grown adult for over three years. My youthful looks are just genetics I imagine (she chuckled mildly) the lack of lycan abilities however is attributed to my gift.” She paused and turned looking piercingly into his eyes.

Adrian understood immediately and rose to his feet only to take a knee and bow before her. “There’s no need to explain further Ms. Newhart, your status will remain as confidential as I am able to keep it.”

Celeste gestured for him to rise “Oh, please, there is no need for that!” She laughed nervously. “It’s more a curse than anything, my father won’t even let me use it.”

Adrian rose and bowed his head “My mother was a healer too, those were different times but not so different that your safety is not at risk, while you are here I will personally oversee your security detail.”

Celeste shook her head “That really won’t be necessary, my brother might be a useless spoiled child, but his guard is more than adequate.”

Adrian sighed “the issue there is that your brother and his guard were both taken in by Lightfall PD along with the other parties involved.”

Celeste gave an amused airy laugh “Well that would present a problem. Do you know that status of his charge?”

Adrian sighed heavily before he spoke, he was hoping to have this sorted out before he had to report to East Lake’s Alpha, but it seemed as though the ‘princess’ was as much his envoy as she was tourist. “The good news is that he has no priors so the fight and accident can be handled at a later date in court; the bad news is that it’s not just a matter of normal law enforcement, because there were shifted wolves in a public area involving assaults with humans present the entire incident is also a violation of the treaty. I can do what I am able to as the Lightfall City representative…”

Celeste raised her hand and shook her head “that won’t be necessary, he will face the council and consequences of his actions, without special treatment, hopefully it will do him some good. My other concern is the human that was present; what is being done about her, I am told she saved my life, is this true?” Adrian nodded as he spoke “Yes, she is a recent employee of mine, my guys tell me she ran back into the fire to pull you from the wreck right before the car exploded. When I arrived she had carried you nearly to the main road before collapsing.” Celeste lowered her gaze and smiled “I’d very much like to meet her if that’s alright.” Before Adrian could answer her Layla peeked into the room “Excuse me, Adrian – Cali is here.”
