Cali sat in the front with Adrian who was driving his truck away from the hospital. Evee and Celeste sat silently in the back. Cali turned, reaching behind the seat of the truck.
“Celeste, do you mind if I stay with you guys tonight as well? I’d feel bad leaving you and Evee all alone in the dark so soon after everything. Plus, it could be like a slumber party if we kick Addy to the couch.” She winked at them both as Adrian seethed in his seat, grumbling under his breath.
Evee looked at Celeste, hoping she too picked up on her subtle language. As far as she knew, Cali and Celeste were the only ones who knew about the specifics concerning her supposed magical abilities and she wanted to keep it that way for now.
