THEY HEADED TO THE Reids’ house. When they reached the door, a voice bellowed from inside. The angry voice belonged to a man in the c****x of rage.
The detectives watched each other and McNamara grinned widely. He knew what was going on: one of the Reids’ famous quarrels everyone talked about. They had the chance to experience it first-hand now.
“Let’s stop this wonderful domestic dispute, what do you say, James?” he said drily.
“And ruin their pleasure, sir?” James inquired, but a mischievous light shone in his eyes.
“Indeed, my dear friend. Let’s spoil their pleasure. Why should they have all the fun when we’ve had such an exhausting day and two bodies, hmm?” McNamara specified, and winked at James.
