CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE –––––––– ALICE THOMPSON WAS still standing in the middle of her house long after the police left. She was dizzy and a bad headache drummed in her temples. She still couldn’t believe that something like that had happened in her house or that Daniel had been put under arrest. She looked around bitterly — her tidy house was in shambles.
