From his vantage point, Noah could see one side of the house. Two windows were partially open; one on the ground floor, the second to what he thought was probably one of the upstairs bedrooms. As he watched, keeping his senses wide open, he saw something slowly take form just outside the upper window. It’s here. That’s it. The life-sucker coalesced before his eyes, its tentacles weaving back and forth as it floated down to hover mere inches above the ground. It apparently sensed Noah’s presence and for a brief moment it seemed to stare at him. It sees me. Noah shivered, swearing under his breath to counteract his fear, as he lit the blowtorch and moved toward it. Instantly the creature turned, moving swiftly away. Noah chased after it, vaguely aware of footsteps coming up behind him. T
