“Eat,” Ezra said forcefully.
“I’m fine, Ezzy. Just a bit tired,” Jewel replied.
“Briar said the baby was hungry. Eat,” Ezra said in return.
A soft knock on the door had Ezra yelling, “Enter.”
Nelson walked in with Orion. Both men looked very concerned about something.
“What is it?” Ezra asked quickly.
Orion sighed then said, “Lucian and his men are all dead. They have been poisoned, just like your father, his circle, and the delegates.”
“How is that even possible? They are under guard at all times! Who was responsible for this? Who allowed someone to breach my home and kill all that could help me find the traitors among us?”
