Chapter 9: Enough Is Enough

1649 Words
“What is going on?” I asked. I was curious as to what they were talking about. They were all looking at me. “Nothing much; we would just want to give you a proper send off,” My Aunt said. I was totally confused. I mean, were they being serious? That was just so hard to believe. “Send off?” I repeated. That’s so odd. “Yeah,” One of my cousins said. “Wouldn’t you want that?” “But... why?” I asked. Surely, it wasn’t for a good reason. They never liked me even before. “Because...,” My aunt walked towards me. “We will finally be able to get rid of you.” She laughed wickedly along with her two daughters. I knew it! It wasn’t because they wanted to bid goodbye to me but because they were finally getting rid of me for the rest of their lives. “Y-you don’t have to do that,” I said. “I’ll be leaving any minute now and you’ll be on your own; I won’t be a burden to you anymore.” “Of course we have to,” Fernice said. “Let’s go,” She pulled me out of the house and into the woods. I knew for sure that it wasn’t a good idea. What they were planning was evil! Otherwise they would never do it. They only want things that can hurt me and not the ither way around. “Where are we going?” I asked when we were a bit far from the house. “You’ll see,” My aunt said. I can hear a wicked smile on her words. I sighed. This will be the last thing that they can hurt or do anything to destroy me; I shut my eyes tightly. We ran for a few minutes before they finally stopped. “We’re here,” That’s what I heard before I saw people appearing from behind those trees and I didn’t have the chance to process what was going on when they threw eggs at me. “H-hey, stop! Hey!” s**t! They were throwing eggs at me and it stinks. “Stop! What are you doing? Hey!” No matter how hard I try to resist, there was nothing I could do. There were too many of them and I was alone. I could hear my aunt laughing from the side. Why the hell would they do this to me? I mean, I was just about to leave and they still bully me. “You deserve that you freaking zygote!” One of the women around me said. I couldn’t recognize who it was because I was too busy covering my face from everything they were throwing at me. “You don’t deserve to be with us or anyone!” Fernice said, I know her voice even when my eyes were close. I didn’t really know why they were so mad at me. I didn’t do anything wrong to them and I surely didn’t deserve to be treated that way. I was crying while they were all laughing at my misery. I know I couldn’t di anything. It was me versus everyone else and I knew I couldn’t win over them if we engage in a fight especially because they are werewolves whilst I am jusy a wolfless creature. “Your mate will just throw you anyway. You are useless to him and to his pack. When that happens, we will never allow you to be back here.” A fat guy who I always see at the pack’s kitchen said. He is the one who cooks everytume there were celebrations around. “You will be alone until you die!” Another one said. “S-stop... i-it,” I wasn’t sure if they even hear that. All I could hear were there loud laughs and taunting. I wanted to yell at them and tell them they were wrong but I couldn’t. I had no energy left to fight with them and make them see my worth. That’s one thing that I was tired of proving to them. I have. I have a purpose and I know I will be able to fulfill my destiny soon. I felt as if I was all alone as I kneeled there protecting myself from what they were doing to me. I couldn’t wait to get out of there and be free from them once and for all. I was covering my face wand was still anticipating there attacks when I noticed that they turned silent and there were nothing thrown my way. Were they done? Don’t they have eggs to throw at me anymore? I slowly took my hands off my face and looked around. The first thing that I saw were a pair of blue eyes that were looking cautiously at me and they were so intense. I could see his chest move up and down as he looked me in the eye. So, that was why everytone was silent. “Are you alright?” He asked with a controlled voice. I bet my cheeks were damped with tears from crying so hard. I nodded. Aside from the eggshells that were on my hair, I was alright. I wasn’t hurt physically, at the very least. I was surprised when he started taking those eggshells off my hair. I stayed there and didn’t move. I watched in silence as my mate was breathing hard as he did that. He looked at me and made sure that I was alright before he turned his back at me and faced everyone. I almost forgot that they were still there. I saw my aunt and everyone else’s face turned pale. I bet they didn’t see that coming. I couldn’t be more grateful that my mate arrived at my most desperate moment. “STEP FORWARD, WHOEVER STARTED THIS,” He said while looking over at everyone. I saw his pack soldier’s circling everyone who bullied me. As much as possible, I didn’t want things to get out of hand. I didn’t want my uncle to know about how his family has been making my life a hell while he wasn’t around. I held his elbow making him turn to me. “Please, just let it go, don’t make a big deal out of this. Let’s just... leave,” I said softly. “No.” He looked like he didn’t even heard what I said. His eyes were furious and they looked like they wanted to punish someone. “Please...” I begged for it. Any minute now, everyone might hear about this and come around. He looked at me and I knew it wasn’t my most appealing time but I still levelled his stare. He sighed and was about to agree when I heard uncle’s voice from behind his wife. Oh dear heavens, now everything just got out of my control. My eyes grew wide when I saw him marched towards me and my mate. I didn’t really expect this to be huge. I thought I could leave without making my uncle and his family fight. “What is going on here?!” He asked his wife while I was behind him. He was furious and I can see that he ready knew what happened. He just wanted to confirm if it was true. “Honey—” My aunt said but he raised his hand making her stop talking. “Don’t ever lie,” He said with emphasis on each words. “I-I...,” She looked for the right words to say or more like to lie. She looked at me and I could see rage in those eyes. Actually, everyone was looking at me in a way that if looks could kill, I would be dead already. “She started it!” My eyes grew wide when she put the blame on me. What is wrong with her? I did nothing to her or to anyone who threw those things at me. If there was someone to blame, it would be them. They brought me here only to be bombarded by those that they threw at me. “STOP LYING!” I didn’t know where I took that courage to stand up to her. I guess I already had enough of her drama and now that I was bound to leave and that uncle already knew about this, I don’t fear her anymore. My mate helped me up and I went over to her. I walked past my uncle just to get closer to her. “I did everything! Everything! I did all that I could just so you could see me as a family! I wanted nothing but for you to see me as one but...you didn’t!” My tears feel down my cheeks. I couldn’t control my emotions anymore. It was overflowing. “I put up with all your nasty words towards me, your bullies and the way that you treated me as if I was your slave buy even so you didn’t hear a thing from me. I was patient because I wanted you to like me. I wanted you to treat me better but even after all those years, that didn’t happen. That day that I dreamed of didn’t come, it was all just in my dreams. I didn’t fight back until now because I was hoping that you would change but you didn’t and even when I am bound to leave, you still didn’t change. I love my uncle and I didn’t want him to know about this but you were the one who did this. Now, he knew everything and he will bear in his conscience that it was his fault but it wasn’t. It wasn’t his. It was all yours and yours alone!” I shook me head while wiping away my tears.
