Ariah’s POV
I had worst night sleep ever. I just wanted to have my normal dream about my parents, instead I had the same dream, or should I say nightmare, over and over again. It was about what happened yesterday at school.
Away from her!
Do I make you nervous Ariah?
They were the words that kept haunting me in my sleep. I hate him! I actually hate him! No one should ever make me feel the way I do right now, I swear to myself I’m not going to show I’m scared next time I see him. I will not give him the satisfaction or power over me.
“Up for a visitor” mom says as she opens my bedroom door.
I’m yet to get out of bed today.
“Depends” I ask looking worried.
“You mean yes” Zoey appears from behind mom “get up Ry, we are going shopping” she bounces on my bed.
I growl pulling the quilt over my head. I’d rather put a fork in my eye then go shopping with Zoey. I love the girl to death but goddess, she is the worst to shop with. I like something, I buy it. Zoey likes something, she has to try it on with every accessory she can find, thinks about it for what seems like forever, just to put it back.
“I am not going shopping Zoey” I shout from under my quilt.
She pulls the quilt back “lunch then? You are not staying in bed all day. It’s your birthday tomorrow, come on Ariah, let’s start celebrating a day early, make a weekend of it” she pleads.
“Fine” I say in a huff.
I just wanted a day in bed feeling sorry for myself but I know Zoey isn’t going to leave my house without me. So I agree. I get up and jump into the shower. I get out to find Zoey has chosen my outfit and lay it on my bed ready.
She knows me well. It’s a pair of skinny ripped jeans and a navy T-shirt.
I get dressed and towel dry my hair, shoving it up in a scruffy bun on top of my head “will I do?” I ask with a forced smile.
“You look like you always do, a million dollars” she smiles, the smile reaches her eyes. “Let’s go”
Mum gave me her car keys, I’m allowed to drive her car today, that in itself is a treat. Mom never lets me drive her car. I’m starting to think she feels sorry for me, what for I don’t know, but she keeps looking at me with pity in her eyes. Maybe she thinks I still have cramps and that’s why I haven’t been out of my room today? Not that I’m complaining, I love driving.
We get into town in less then 15 minutes. I find a parking space close to Rosie’s Diner so we don’t have to walk too far to our destination.
The place is pretty empty when we arrive. Most people have probably had lunch already.
We find a booth and sit down looking at the menu. Why I don’t know, we always have the same thing when we’re here. Rosie’s do the best burger in town, so it’s going to be two burgers and fries, the usual as we call it.
We’re not sitting long when Ben comes over to take our order.
“Usual ladies” he says with a wink.
Ben is a good looking man, he has dark brown eyes, short dark hair and a sexy smile you can’t help but notice.
“How did you guess” I reply with a smile.
“I would be surprised if you ordered anything else Ariah” winking at me again.
I blush
He darts off behind the counter, looking at me at every opportunity to give me a cheeky smile.
“We really need to find somewhere else to eat Zoey” I grin.
“Why’s that?”
“You know you have a problem when the waiter knows your order when you walk through the door, not to mention being on first name basis” I giggle.
“You know he crushes on you right” she says wiggling her eyebrows.
“Shut up” I smack her giggling.
Before we know it, two burgers and fries are placed on the table in front of us.
“Here we are ladies” Ben smiles “Zoey is right you know”
I feel my face starting to burn a lovely shade of red.
“Here” he says placing a napkin on the table next to my food. “I’d love to take you for dinner, somewhere other than here” he laughs. “If you fancy it, give me a call”
He walks away as I look down at the napkin. It reads Ben with a telephone number.
Suddenly, I hear a growl which makes me freeze, wiping the smile off my face.
I look up to see Alpha Ryder staring at me.
For f**k sake! When did he get here? Is this lad following me!
He doesn’t say anything to me, just looks angry as he sits in the booth opposite me and Zoey, not taking his eyes off me.
“Is this lad for real?” I whisper to Zoey.
“Just ignore him Ry. The more you acknowledge him the more you will become his next target” she whispers back.
Easier said than done when he seems to be everywhere!
“Hello Miss Ariah” I hear a small voice at the side of me making me jump a little.
“Hello Elsie. How’s my favourite little lady doing”
Elsie is a child in the daycare I occasionally help out at. She is the sweetest little six year old ever.
“I’m okay” she giggles “I miss you Miss Ariah, when are you coming back?” she asks with big eyes.
“I will be in Tuesday, just to see you” I say tapping her little nose.
Her little smile made my heart melt. She gave me a big cuddle and ran off to her mom. Her mom waved and I waved back.
“I don’t know where you find the time honestly. I couldn’t think of anything worse then helping at the daycare, or volunteer at the hospital” Zoey rolls her eyes.
“Hey I love children” I frown “and I love helping people. Maybe you should try it some time” I nudge her.
We hurry to finish our food. The whole time we were there I felt Alpha Ryder’s eyes burning a hole in my head. I didn’t even look back giving him the ‘I don’t care’ vibe. Of course, that was a front. He was making me feel so uncomfortable, but over my dead body I was going to show him that.
………………
Ryder’s POV
I sit down at the booth opposite Ariah and her friend. I’m so angry hearing that shithouse ask my mate out on a date. Why is it all the men want her?!
“SHE’S MINE” Riley snaps.
“She’s yours until Monday buddy” I say back to him
“Your making a mistake” he growls at me.
“I’ve made up my mind, your going to have to get use to it”
“So are we just going to follow her until you reject her” Matt asks snapping me out of my mind link with Riley.
I could smell her when we arrived in town. Her smell got stronger as Matt and I walked closer to Rosie’s Diner so I knew she was here. All of a sudden, I was hungry for a burger, well, I’m hungry for her but a burger will have to do.
“I’m not following her” I laugh “I’m hungry”
“And I’m the president” Matt gives me a look.
I see a small child go over to Ariah. Calling her Miss Ariah made me want to listen in to the conversation. Why is that child calling her Miss Ariah?
She promises the child she will be there on Tuesday to see her. But where is there? I don’t have to wonder for too long when her friend answers my question without even realising. She helps out at the daycare and volunteers at the hospital. Goddess why does she have to be so god darn perfect! She’s making this rejection so much harder and it’s not even Monday yet.
